This set seems to be getting more and more scarce at Target (and does not seem like it will ever go on sale). I'm wondering if it is nearing EOL and thinking about just biting the bullet and paying retail for it. I've only seen it at a couple Targets near me lately. Time to buy now despite having to pay MSRP??

I picked one up the other day at MSRP. It was the first one I've seen in store in a few Target trips. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks now than miss out on it completely. And you can always get the price adjusted if it ends up going on sale later.

I was just down in San Diego and I grabbed one from a Target near Carlsbad that had 2 on the shelf. This set is unavailable in my area (Edmonton, Alberta) except for LEGO Shop at Home (no Lego store yet, and Target opens in May). I think it will do really well as they're just so hard to find (Legoland didn't have any when I was there either) period let alone on sale. Plus if there isn't another way to obtain the printed armor the minifigs will keep the price high after EOL.

I'm going to get one of these soon, Hopefully I can find one at a Target but I might have to wait till we go to the LEGO store.

Gotta <3 the Lego Store! Make sure to allow at least 1 hour for the Pick a Brick wall! ;-)

These definitely have been bumped up my priority list, but then again, most of the first wave of LOTR sets have

Same, I haven't been all that impressed with the first wave of LOTR. I think some will do well once retired simply becuase there is a large LOTR following. Helms Deep will definitely do well IMO, but I still feel it looks a tad incomplete. This has kept me from buying a bunch of them. Instead I'm looking forward to the new stuff coming this summer, especially the Pirate Ambush and Battle at Black Gate.

Pretty much this. I was glad to push it and just get mine when they had it. I may have paid retail but at least I have it at all.

I think it's a little late to try and find one now. Haven't seen one since before the end of last year.

I live 5 minutes from a LEGO store and they have A LOT of these. Do you think it will be gone soon? Target still has them online so I'm not sure if its too late....yet.

I know my retailers routines so when I see that much of an item I'm pretty sure it'll be there to pick up the next time. I've only been wrong a few times on that.

But since I never like leaving anything to chance I would just get the minimum that you'd be okay with if things did suddenly go south and they didn't have it.

Better to have something than wind up with nothing but regret.

If anything, I just do not see any discount happening for The Orc Forge ever. You may get lucky and good for you if you can, but chances are slim in my opinion. This is one of those sets that never goes on sale or at the least slightly discounted.

If you are on the fence about getting this set if you are able you should consider getting the Red Card through Target. They have a debit and credit option, free shipping, no minimum order size, and 5% off. It really makes getting things convenient and can save you a trip.

These are long gone from my local stores, along with most of the LOTR line and now even the Hobbit sets are dwindling. I'd pick a few up if I saw them. They may do well if Orthanc gets released for people making displays.
