LegoNoob!
HI am am looking to purhcase this collection and wonder what you think i should offer that i could make good profit from buying Life is changing fast. Sold my house now I am gonna move. Sadly this collection is in a climate controlled storage now. Would like it to go to someone who appreciates Legos like I do. These are the best pictures I currently have. I have hundreds of sets, thousands of mini figures, millions of piece's. This ad is for every Lego piece I have. Storage containers included. I have some of the boxes still. ( approx 400 boxes ) Doesn't look like much in the pictures but they have other boxes in them. I have new sets as well. For example: All the new Harry Potter. Due to them being stored right now I have no sets for sale separately. I do not have time to fill requests right now. This is a grundle of money! Also it's an instant Lego room. My whole life is here. I really don't have the time anymore for this collection. Probably more Legos then I can do in my lifetime. Took 35 years to get this far. If anything I do hope you have enjoyed the pictures of what a lifetime built. I really want this collection to be enjoyed. It just can't be by me any longer. *** I am not in a rush to sell by any means.*** I will consider offers but keep in mind my collection is for sale not on sale. I have 4 tubs of Legos that need sorting and I have 3 that are sorted by color into baggies. I will not sell the figs seperate. They belong to sets already. If you are a lego resaler time has to be invested to inventory some of the sets. Room to make money still. If you are a lego hobbiest this is a perfect setup to just go thru the parts at your leisure and just enjoy the art of building. Upon request I have 3 lists compiled. Used with boxes, brand new in the box, and used no box. Completeness is not guaranteed and this is the best I can do cataloging my collection. There is so much here. As far as taking ownership you will need a truck with a shell or enclosed trailer. I am also willing to help with delivery. After payment is received that is. I don't have time to load up over 900 pounds of Legos for a look. Also some lists the seller gave me which doesnt include all included sets. Voltron
Not went through list, but judging by the new box list and pictures price seems fair. However, this would take a HUGE amount of time sorting / confirming parts etc. I personally regret starting parting out sets as it is such a time drain, and if you work out your time per hour (compared to your day job), it probably isn't worth it. Can you make money parting out this stuff yes. Is it worth the time? I personally will say no, as time is precious and you can easily just buy some brand new sealed sets and make the same amount of profit for alot less work.

Does that fact that I am 17 and dont have a full time job change your mind? LIke ill have tons of time to work on this this summer. And I enjoy doing basically everything with lego! Like Would this be a good summer project?

Like Would this be a good summer project?I was going to say that you can make money, if you have time to waste. I've had bulk collections worth thousands in profit, but it also took me dozens or hundreds of hours, and space to go through. If you look at it as a challenge, and that you can get sets you want to collect, then go for it. As for value, I didn't look at every set, but you could probably go lower as the seller is motivated to sell. Expect this to take all of your free time until September, and to add hundreds in bricklink parts, followed by seller fees. Many of these aren't the kinds of sets that are going to get full value on local marketplaces.Yay LEGO!

If you are 17, I personally will say that there are lots of other things that the money can be better spent in I.e. saving for college / University, first car, travelling for experiences, learning about finance for future and things like ISA's / Pensions (or 401K is it in USA?) as 16k invested in a world tracker fund via compound interest would probably be worth alot more in 10/ 20 years (I am not a financial advisor, just giving some general advice). If you did want to invest in lego, start of small (100's or 2k etc) depending on your budget, but if you are 17 I don't know how the tax stuff would work for you, as even though it is all boring stuff, you would still need to look into it.

So if I am up to spending all the hours and hours you would consider this a win?If your primary goal is only to make money, then probably not. Full time job at 1000h, plus you have to buy supplies to ship everything, pictures, listings, etc. This also assumes it will actually sell at the price you want, which doesn't always happen. If you want a bunch of it for your collection, then sure. If you see $3-5k of products that you want to keep and can sell the rest for your outlay, then it's a good deal. I only ever buy used lots now that add to my collection of ships or trains or modulars etc. I sell the rest and break even or come out ahead, because I can work on those odds and ends in my spare time. I would never do it just to make money now, because your cost and time goes up so much ordering parts, waiting for them, waiting for replacements when it's broken or the wrong mold, etc. Plus space is finite.Selling takes a LOT of time and effort, buying is easy.Yay LEGO!

I for sure would run into stuff id keep for my personal collection. I also would probably let some immediate fam pick a thing or two Update yall!!!! brickvoyeur
At 17 you have the money just sitting around to pay for a purchase like this? Damn, I was poor at 17. That'll teach me to be born into poverty. Can you even make a seller account on eBay or Bricklink before age 18? Unless you are wealthy already, you'd be best to have your parents co-sign (remove them when you hit 18) an investment account for you and just stuff it in and let it grow until retirement. With a modest growth of 8%, that 16k turns into $175k by the time you're 50. If you average 10% gains, you have more than $315k. Just set it, and forget it. You would also want to likely make this a Roth IRA, if you are working. Either way, I admire the hustle. I know some of the 20 year olds I work with have no concept of the future. They see money and they spend it, no matter how pointless. Delay your gratification.
redcell
You should go through Ebay sold listings for the sets and calculate how much they've sold for recently, add that up, deduct selling fees and see where you land. When I was buying bulk lots, I wouldn't touch anything where that number wasn't 3X what I would be paying for the lot. It looks like you'd probably have some bulk and other stuff to sell, but the sets will be easiest to move and is where you'll make your money. If you've got time to burn, the dollars work out, and you have the disposable capital to put into it, it wouldn't not make sense to do it...it looks like the seller has already done a lot of sorting for you...but that's a s***load of work and you should be absolutely sure that you're prepared to put in the time and follow through all the way through the selling end of it. Lots like that always seem a lot easier on this side of the deal than they do when you have all of that Lego sitting in your garage/bonus room/etc. and you actually have to deal with sorting it out, inventorying the sets, etc. Dealing with really large lots can be a colossal PIA if you don't have a physical workspace that is conducive to dealing with really large lots, the patience, and attention span needed to prep that much to sell. But if you have the time, money, patience, and hustle to get into selling Lego and stick with it, it can be very lucrative. I had no idea what I was getting into when I bought my first used lot 15 years ago for $900, but that was the best purchase I've ever made given where the path that it started me on has led to.
