cflannagan Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-57572674-1/lego-spill-tangles-up-west-virginia-highway/ Poor kid.. "Those legos belonged to my 11 yr old son they where in totes strapped to the top of the durango they fell off strap came loose he cried it seemed like forever but I tried to recover as many as I could cause I don't have the money to buy him anymore." :-( Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I'm glad the writer was making light of the matter.........that poor kid was probably crushed. Another reason to add to the many why I dont like CNET. Quote
Rich B Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Wow!!! First time I've seen this. All those pieces scattered probably looks like some of the basement floors in our homes. Kind of reminds me of my parents house when I was younger with bulk Lego scattered everywhere, only carpet instead of asphalt lol. Quote
Ed Mack Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 We should set up a donation collection for the kid... Quote
Darth Lego Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 We should set up a donation collection for the kid... Great idea! Quote
Sue866 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I'm sorry, that story is HILARIOUS! Bwahahaha. Not making light of the kid's tragedy, but still, how often is Lego in the news for this? Whoever wrote that story had fun with it. Funny! Good news story find for the forum. I love cnet! I'd donate a Lego kit. We have the Facebook name of the Mom, Tiffany Lantz, if y'all are serious. stephen_rockefeller Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I just wonder if the woman writing is legit. My thoughts exactly......maybe the donations would be better spent on driving lessons for her??? Quote

stephen_rockefeller Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Someone who has no clue of their SM value! My LEGO would be seatbelted in if I ever decided to take them somewhere with me ;) Quote
Pogie Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Reminds me of the story of the container ship with a cargo of legos that sank or pitched some of its containers. Beachcombers on the pacific rim were getting free legos for months! Quote
kerrmando Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I'm always scared driving around with Legos, so many things can go wrong...poor kid. The container ship spills are slightly more amusing though hah. Quote
Snowcrash Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Definitely not the container I'd choose to strap to the roof. Quote
sadowsk1 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 It's an interesting article. I feel bad for the child involved but at the same time frustrated at the parents. Honestly, if a person knows they can't afford to buy more they need to be more careful with what they have. I understand this sounds cold, but as a parent on a budget I don't take what we have for granted and treat everything we have with care. Quote

Yeah, when I first heard about the story this morning, I imagined huge piles of boxes spilled from a Lego truck, and wondered how many Brickpickers might be driving to West Va. to help clean up.
