Hi Everyone,

I'm a Rookie Senior Citizen who never had Legos when I was young.  I did have Lincoln Logs and they were great at the time.  But, for the past few years I have always been in awe whenever I have seen what people have done at a Lego demonstration and would walk away thinking that I want to do that.  Of course I felt this was something at my age I shouldn't be spending my time on.  Then I purchased a couple of books this past year:  A Million Little Bricks and Extreme Bricks both by Sarah Herman.  I'm hooked now and I'm eager to become an AFOL.  It was from one of these books that I found this website and I look forward to learning from you all. I look forward to any suggestions you can offer to this Rookie on everything in the world of Legos: books, bricks, sets, websites, storage, etc.

Cheers

:imsohappy:

Hi, I'm Bijoubrix aka Donna. 40 something, recently retired and thanks to a wonderful husband, back into Legos. For Christmas this year, he bought me several of the lego Star Wars (Mos Eisley Cantina, Rankor Pit, mini Millennium Falcon) and am enjoying them immensely.

I am now teaching part time at a local university (statistics/anthropology) now that I'm not working full time (sold my company, took six months off, and caught up on my sleep) I'm rediscovering what life was like before university studies and work.

I am 20 years old, male, and I'm out in Connecticut, USA  and I'd like to thank Jeff and Ed, and anyone else who helped create this extremely helpful website for the new guys/girls to the lego profiting industry.  :clapping:

Hello everyone! I'm 36 from The Netherlands. I came out of the Dark Ages about a year ago when I bought some secondhand Technic Lego and since then I'm hooked again. I consider myself a collector / investor / builder a.k.a. AFOL. Mostly into the Star Wars theme but I like Technic, City and other licensed themes (LOTR, DC Comics Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes) as well. Thanks for creating this website, it's really helpful and I like the "atmosphere".

Im 15, living in the US, and have been building with Lego bricks my whole life. I actually joined the website back over the summer and began my real investing there. I had done some investing before in earlier years but with no idea of what I was doing (I bought sets from on sale key chains and magnets to the UCS B-wing). Since then, I have done research on good sets and over all, this website helped me decided my investing stratagies. I have already picked a few GE and I have learned my lesson on that I should have picked up a HH. My real plan for investing sets is just to sell to buy more lego sets. I havent been on this website since September due to school taking a major priority I went under and did not come back to the website until this winter break. I for the moment do not see me falling into my dog ages and hope not to due to the genuine thrill I get from building.

Happy Investing and Happy New Year!

27 and from the US (Northwest). I have big a Lego fan since at least 7. I still love Legos and am starting to share it with my 3 year old daughter. Modulars on Ebay piqued my interest a year back in the potential of investing. Stumbled accross this site last month and decided it was something the wife and I could do now that we have the space.

I am a 43 year old nurse and Mom with a Lego loving son...the bug bit me too and we have built a lot of sets together over the years.  I had never thought of investing until my son decided to sell his Hogwarts Castle set in November.  He keeps his sets pristine, he had all of the minis, the box, the instructions.  We put it up on Ebay and it sold for $300 in less than 30 minutes.

I think that's when I decided to try quick flipping to finance my long term holds.  I love the hunt, the research, the camaraderie on the boards.

Looking forward to 2015!

I will soon be gainfully employed as an Electronic Warfare Analyst/Engineer for a top tier defense contractor. I signed the offer letter two weeks ago. :D

Married nearly 10 years to a very supportive wife who has now fully embraced this "hobby" of mine. Two daughters, 7 and 5 years of age.

Interestingly, I was wrongfully terminated from my previous employer (another defense contractor) where I worked for 14 years performing similar work. It's a long story I may share once the mediation process concludes. During this brief period (5 months) of unemployment, I was able to turn some investments into mortgage and car payments.

This site has been an invaluable resource for making educated purchases and I can't thank this community enough for its insight. I'm not the most talkative person (that's my better half's strongest skill :P) and so I've been rather quiet these past few years studying the site and forum posts.

I got roped into this hobby back in late 2010 when I discovered how much a 10179 appreciated in value after EOL. I haven't looked backed since.

The first deliberate purchase I made at AMZ that began this hobby was a Slave I 8097 for $70. I wish I had only started this hobby back in 2007. What was I thinking back then?!?!

Physician Assistant/Army Officer/public health student by day.....Lego collector  hoarder by night. I've made a few Lego sales trying to test the market and get a feel for the pros and cons of Ebay vs. Bricklink vs. CL vs. Brick Classifieds, etc. Truthfully, I think Lego sets are like puppies....in your heart you want to keep them all, in your head you know they need good homes and you don't have the space or money to keep them all (well most of us at least). I'm married with five children and three greyhounds (one full size and two iggys).

Once upon a time, I was little more than a lowly peon among the ranks of fierce grunts, tenacious axe-throwers, and marauding raiders. Until one day, I grew weary realizing the path of destruction my clan was heading towards under the rule of the then reigning king who had let himself turn into a crooked vile disgusting twisted shadow of his former honor therefore I challenged him for all rights to the throne and the welfare of our kin. With a degree of cunning and skill, I kicked his unroyal ass mercilessly, took the crown, and strived to bring back the glory once lost. The former king's grave is known to all as a reminder of what a person becomes when never-ending greed consumes thy very being. "For what profit to a man is it to gain the whole world yet lose his very soul?"

Anywho, I playtest video games for a living. Well mainly cheap bargain bin pc ones but still whatever. It's a living aside from all the usual 'rulery'.

42yo m here. North Texas area. I was doing general flipping/reselling just as a hobby in my spare time for fun when I came across several LEGO sets and they sold quick (only after I built them myself) which lead to me buying a few new sets for fun which lead to me checking out forums and finding this place. I was a huge LEGO fan as a kid and they are just as fun today as I remember back then.

Hey all-

Not sure how I missed this thread until now, but I'm 35, male, and I live near Philadelphia PA. It's a good position with LEGO stores in King of Prussia, Delaware, Jersey and New York. I don't go that often but feel lucky to have that many options nearby. Anyone else in this area? I've read that Ed and Jeff are kind of close, but I've not actually seen any posts indicating anyone is from Philadelphia.

Also- when I was a kid I was obsessed with forestmen! My friend (who still collects LEGO) had a huge table in his basement with castle and city sets. I still love castle and pirate and I'm super excited about pirates coming out this year. This will be my first opportunity to buy a ship straight off the shelf!

21, married, two daughters and I'm an electrical engineer with specialization in electric power systems. I do consulting for power plants (most nuclear). I originally got into EE because I wanted to design electric guitars, but things rarely turn out how you want.

I really like this thread.
