The chronometer or treasure chest have anything to do with the Endurance, Lego just wants your points back. They are pretty weak for the price imo

thanks I haven’t read up on endurance lol so thought they were related that helps save me some money not sure about chronometer but no treasure chest for me.  I like the barracuda seas and tic tac toe

The Chronometer was a key instrument used for navigation on the voyage.  The treasure chest has nothing to do with the story AFAIK and neither does the Barracuda. For me this is a day 1 purchase to get the GWP lifeboat with minifigures more so than the set itself, and I don’t want to pay reseller prices. Not sure how the lifeboat will do in the aftermarket because not sure how much crossover there will be or will it just be another Jane Goodall set.

It doesn’t say “the chronometer from the Endurance” but we can surely pretend, that’s what toys are all about.

Good amount of stores across the US have very little of the 2 GWP's for this weekend.  They were all sent first weekend and usually they hold half for preview weekend and half for BF-CM when they do that but most burnt through the majority of their allotment from good sales so this weekend will be mostly without those 2.

Unfortunately not, but the parts seem to only be available in pricey sets like Rivendell and Shadow Box but yes you can BL the Minifigures not sure about the rest of the set. The legs and the hats are common but here are the heads and torsos:

This guy seems to agree with you about McNish, but interesting to learn he was insubordinate and to say the journey wouldn’t have been successful without Shackelton is like saying you could voyage on The Love Boat without this guy 🤣

Some interesting info to link the 2400 points reward Marine Chronometer to the Endurance and James Caird GWP.

"Marine chronometer. Believed to have been used on Shackleton's 800-mile open boat journey to South Georgia on the James Caird, after his ship the Endurance was crushed in ice. The dial bears the inscription 'THOMAS MERCER MAKER TO THE ADMIRALTY London No.5229'. The box lid is inscribed 'ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY NO.2.'. There are two award crests: 'EXHIBITION SILVER MEDAL 1867 PARIS 1867' and "INTERNATIONAL PRIZE MEDAL 1876 PHILADELPHIA". The number '5229' also appears on the front of the box. There is a letter in the lid behind a pane of glass."
