TheOrcKing Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Just caught this one on The Brick Fan. An absolutely brilliant masterpiece designed from pure passion! There will never be an equal to artwork such as this. Simply beautiful. Quote
Raykong Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 is there anyway she didnt spend at least $25k on pieces to build this? who does that? and where the heck do you keep something like this in your house? Quote
Rich B Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Insane!! Very cool! This could be the best MOC I've ever seen period. Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 TLG should really reach out to her and offer her some consulting work. That's truly impressive from a design perspective, and to think she did all that from scratch. If I was a project leader at Lego I'd at least bring her in and see if she had any other ideas for the company. People with this kind of passion for a product should be viewed as a company asset and resource. At the very least I would be heavily promoting that castle and trying to inspire fans to undertake similar works around the world. I'm sure she was good for the company's bottom line if nothing else, at least give her a vip tour of the factory floor and take her and her kids out to a fancy dinner. I think she's earned it :) Quote
scottjs Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Wow that's impressive, I wish I had the bricks to even attempt something of this scale. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Wow that's impressive, I wish I had the bricks to even attempt something of this scale. I know right? Even if every brick I had was something that could be used for a build like this, I still wouldn't have enough. I mean seriously, look at my piece count. No where near 400,000. Maybe if I bought a 'Live Star' or two that might help....a little. Quote
Snowcrash Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Anyone want to loan me 17k? I need to drive to California to pick up that Lego lot from the guy who's been hoarding them in his attic. I'm going to build an X-wing in my garage. There's probably that many pieces in 1,000 lbs. of Lego, right? Quote
tigereyes5811 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 THAT IS JUST SOOOOOOOO SICK!!! TLG SHOULD JUST HIRE HER AND HER SON TO WORK FOR THEM. I BET EVEN THEIR TOP DESIGNERS WERE IN AWE. JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU, WITH LEGO BRICKS, IDEA, AND AN IMAGINATION, WHAT ANYONE CAN ACCOMPLISH. Quote
Huskers1236 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Ever since building 4842 with my son, I have wanted to expand the Hogwarts Castle and make it a bit more to scale, but this is absolutely incredible. This would be amazing for a Lego Pro, let alone a soccer mom who happens to have a bottomless Lego budget. Seriously, who has this much Lego laying around. The Pick a Brick orders must have been tremendous. Quote
Darth Lego Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 That castle is awesome! (: I still can't believe someone with only 5 years of Lego building experience built that. It's incredible. Quote
spener90 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 She deserves to meet JK Rowling! This MOC is like the Mirror of Erised! I could just sit and look at it all day! Quote
Veegs Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Thanks for the link - I needed inspiring this morning. Quote
Blackjack Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 She probably had to sell her house for the money to build this thing! Quote
Alcarin Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Wonderful... this is amazing and wonderful indeed, too bad I am not so keen about Harry Potter overall :P Quote
comicblast Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Amazing! That is extremely cool. She must have spent so much money on random pieces from Pick a Brick walls.... Quote
pickleboy Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Those who say women don't do LEGO sets should take note... Quote
TheOrcKing Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Those who say women don't do LEGO sets should take note... THANK YOU! Quote
Alcarin Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 THANK YOU! Noone said they DO NOT do LEGO sets... But you cannot say there is more Women LEGO collectors than male... and no there is not even 40:60 ratio in my humble opinion. Quote
