mushedroom Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 LAST NIGHT I JUST GOT 2 FUNHOUSE SETS. for 29.99 each!!! i went to toys r us and they had the funhouse for 54.99 each...so i told them that i wanted to price match then they said i wouldn't be able to take advantage of the 20.00 discount... so i got slightly irritated and said, "this is ridiculous because your website is advertising this set for 39.99 and you're selling it for 15.00 more in store...what kind of scam do you have going here..." and the manager QUICKLY went online to verify the price and then gave me the 20.00 discount after price matching. woo hoo! mushedroom Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 AND REMEMBER THIS SALE ($20 off of $75+ purchase) ENDS THIS SATURDAY!!! Quote
aspen Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 mushedroom, consider yourself lucky. Yesterday I was saying that I could buy the vampyre castle at $99 plus $20 off that price because the gal at TRU checked her computer and said they would give me the $99 price plus the $20 off of that. The $99 is their sale on line. Then today I went to purchase it as I did not have my purse with me yesterday and they had held the the last set for me. The gal today said they could not give me the $20 off of the $99 on-line price. I just walked out of the store. Makes me mad is some of us have had luck. I plan to wait for the Lego VIP double points or the free shipping Lego deal and give up on TRU. Or I may order the castle from Target as someone said they package their sets very well. I am one who wants a perfect box if possible and don't mind missing a sale if I can get a good box. Won't order from Amazon after what I have read as I dont want the hassle of returning sets that are creased, dented, or whatever. Quote
gte206w Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 All I had to do was read the thread title and I knew that mushedroom would be the original poster! You have the best TRU ever, but I do not think it is at all what the norm is elsewhere [sadly] Quote

TARGET AND WALMART HAVE THAT AS NORMAL PRICING... TARGET IS ACTUALLY 96.99 and cause a little "non-angry" fuss... they will back down and give you the discount i promise but you have to be firm Quote

You have the best TRU ever, but I do not think it is at all what the norm is elsewhere [sadly]actually i went to a different tru in the "affluent" area of town...and the manager immediately said noso did the associateso that's when i "quiet thundered" about this being a scam since they offered the same item for cheaper on their own site.that's when the manager said let me see what i can do.and he adjusted it to just be discount of 10 off each 39.99 set after reducing the instore from 54.99 to the online price of 39.99.remember this is borderline illegal (what tru does with their mark ups for bogo, etc.)so they don't want any trouble.also read the guidelines to their price matchinghttp://www.toysrus.com/shop/index.jsp?categoryId=11949070it doesn't say that they will not grant the various tru discounts once price matched.;-)in the immortal words of the GI Joe PSA's when i was a kid...KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE! mushedroom Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 p.s. ALWAYS REMEMBER THESE RULES WHEN DEALING WITH A STORE... remember GOING POSTAL will get you no where. also...BEING IGNORANT OR GHETTO will also get you no where. DO NOT CURSE! THIS WILL get you written off as being an ass and you will likely be escorted out of the store. remember this is a children environment the only way to get results is to be smart and ACT intelligent. AND BE RESPECTFUL. DRESS WELL (don't go in a suit but also don't go in wearing stained clothes or looking like a bum) and most importantly BE NICE NICE NICE... but firm and confident. Quote
Talon Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I hate my TRU, they absolutely will not both price match and give any other discount! Quote
mushedroom Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 I hate my TRU, they absolutely will not both price match and give any other discount! they have to now. it is an in-store policy. print out that link above and ask for a manager or supervisor in customer service also if you have been treated poorly tell them about it and also tell them that you intend to report them for not complying with what their website advertises, that being "price matching" because this is ILLEGAL it is false advertising Quote

I don't quite understand how that works. Quote

pickleboy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I just don't want to have to talk to a manager every time I go shopping. I only shop there if there are NO other options. Quote

mushedroom Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 last night was the only time i got a little "what's the deal here" outside of that every single manager has been super pleasant. one even price matched a different store's price which was 4.00 less simply by believing me versus pulling out a receipt etc. Quote
