Same. I waited too long going back and forth that morning and now the FOMO is real.

feels a lot like Pirates Bay...no worry that it's going to disappear, but seems more like these will not be available till next year

maybe the new normal is "ALWAYS scarce" replacing the "Hard to find" moniker...but actually true for certain sets

You actually think Lego is not going to be able to produce a new, popular set like Pirates of Barracuda Bay until next year?  They're just going to forget Christmas when they make all their money???  And please refrain from saying "the new normal".  It's an idiotic phrase that was pushed on us as a form of compliance and acceptance.

Yes I think so.

It's taken them 4 months and we finally see a handful of stock hit Amazon in the middle of the night.  LEGO will have more shipments but I think the "hoard" (after seeing the current prices) will DYSON them up before most reach end users.  For example I have seen a sudden uptick of Stranger Things set on Ebay just 2 nights ago (following the Amazon restock) at the recent high prices...so I don;t know if that stock will hold up or the high prices...but that's just one popular set.

Also, LEGO is still due to release all the new sets along w/ re-stocking all the "popular" ones..as well as all the unpopular ones (because LEGO will LEGO)...there is zero sign of a LEGO decision makers saying "Hmm it's clear everyone wants the Pirates Bay...lets prioritize that one over all the 100s of turds we are still producing"...sorry that's what your post implies...and I've never seen evidence of this. LEGO is behind by 2-3 months in their manufacturing depending on the factory...and they still seem to be releasing new sets (going instant OOS or not) and they still have  a laundry list of more new sets to go...

YOU tell me how they will make up the difference before Christmas?

Mexico is getting heavy pressure from the US to reopen their manufacturing plants. As a matter of fact, I believe I read that they are allowed to operate now if they have certain safety protocols in place. I expect that they will reopen very soon. Once that happens I think (based only on my opinion) that it will only take 2-3 months for stock levels to return to normal. Just in time for the holidays.

Doesn't LEGO just produce the pieces regardless of what set they go to?  I thought that was the reason that some sets that require unique pieces would roll out of the factories at irregular intervals -- they would hold back the entire set until all the pieces were in inventory and then out it would go.  This would mean you are both kinda wrong and that we should not be talking about sets that sell but sets in demand that have readily available pieces coming out.  (This is not gonna be Pirate Bay, unfortunately).

Has anyone found these issues in their set?

The color difference in those fence pieces is very stark. And I’ve never seen such a bad ink blot in an instruction book before. Do you think these are serious enough to contact Lego over? Thinking in terms of long term collectible value.

I have noticed color variations in the pearl gold pieces a lot in the past. This shouldn't be anything that affects value. I have recently bought a couple 41101 Grand Hotel, which has a ton of the pearl gold color and those variations were stark in contrast.

Those are known variances in this color. See https://brickset.com/parts/colour-Warm-Gold

So, anyone here regret selling their Haunted House already? I still got mine, unopened and sealed. I got no room to build it right now and I'm moving soon so it'll probably be produced in the next year.

I was going to put it online yesterday but it's so pretty and shiny and I can't bring myself to. It just screams "NOOOOO! DON'T LET ME GO!!!!"

Also, I need stop going to bed at 1 AM.

If I were in your shoes, I would sell it right away...mainly because you won't be building it anytime soon. You can buy it back later when it's readily in stock and pocket the profits.

Sounds like a fair trade to me. I was in my dark ages when that came out. quite an amazing set.

More than fair, that's a win! The HH will certainly come back in stock so value = MSRP! Good trade!!

It was hard for some reason, but I saw selling prices and thought well I'll list for sale my one Haunted House. I won't be building it anytime soon and eventually I'll be able to grab another one. I sold it within a couple of hours at a good price.

yup, mine was on Ebay for 1 day and sold $450 (include $25 shipping)...I do intend to buy one again..I just figured "why not" since based on my backlog it will be about 2 years into EOL before I actually build it

What you have to be careful, is 2 years after EOL, and prices are high and you think to yourself - I like cash more than bricks.

Let’s just say there have been a couple of sets over these last months that I made peace with, having not built them and deciding to sell instead.
