billybell991
Given that they're only on preorder, the chance of discounts is nonexistent. Is it worth getting a couple of these at regular price ahead of time or do you think they will actually hit shelves? (and have a chance at being discounted at some point). Other thoughts on these 2 sets, knowing how whack-o people are for "Baby Yoda"?
Shortbus311
Personally, I believe that these will be the most mass produced sets by far this year and will hold little to no resale value for a while. I won't be buying any until they are discounted.
gmpirate
I don't remember all the release dates off hand but . . . A Fall release date may not hit right away, but holding for Christmas could still be a hit. December release? It's Christmas after all, not August. Think of it as investing in the stock market. You divide up your funds in to higher growth/high risk, medium growth and long term/low risk. Just don't tie up funds you must have short term. Worst case scenario is you sell them at a little loss (maybe RRP less fees) or hold them for the long term. cardensb
I think when they do the May 4th event, I will pre-order.

However, the stock market is currently reminding us it is not based upon actual performance but speculation. Lot of people are panicking right now. I'm not saying we should not take coronavirus seriously but airline stocks and oil prices are sinking based upon what people think will happen in the coming months. We're doing the same thing wondering how well will these pre-order sets sell in stores? Will there be sales for this set? Is it ONLY available for preorder, which seems unlikely. I also wonder about preorders being available for 2x points and/or promos. Based upon previous experience, if ordering for a promo, we need to make sure we order something that will ship immediately because LEGO has a bad habit of running out of promos before back-ordered (and I assume pre-order) sets actually ship. fourkidsbuilding
I pre-ordered a few razor Crest and brickheadz hoping for a christmas shortage.... And of course because I did that they will be plentiful at Christmas...lol. Anyway, just thought I would take a chance..we'll see

Looks like this little GWP train that's going on right now might do it. Going for around 40-45 on BL right now.

Studebricker
I hardly ever buy pre-orders, just because Amazon is so good at reducing the price on most sets I buy, so I just wait for the inevitable 20 - 30% discounts once a set is out for a month or so... Sauromosis
The Mandalorian Brickheadz listing on Amazon is now a doggy page...maybe that means they stopped taking preorders.
braddoskas
With it releasing in Sept and the 2nd season of the Mandalorian starting up in Oct it is great timing by Lego and as mentioned we walk right into Christmas season.
Sauromosis
The Mandalorian Brickheadz listing on Amazon has finally switched to "Limit 2" from unlimited. I'm starting to feel this will be a potential quick flip.

Alpinemaps
I would suggest looking hard at the Razor Crest. It is a popular ship, on a popular series, that is unique. I would also suggest that The Ghost might be a good indicator of future performance.

"future performance"? if this set is scarce going into Christmas it's a $300 set...easy
