iahawks550
I'm trying to ascertain whether a larger set produced in 1999 would have plastic wrap over the entire box. I'm contemplating buying a set locally, but want to make sure this wasn't done at a later date.
Pseudoty
That’s a flip top set designed so you can open the lid and see what is inside but still remained sealed. So unless they came that way prior to be putting out on the shelf I would think it was done at a later date and would not buy unless they are willing to remove the shrink wrap. I am sure someone else will have more info.
iahawks550
That's a good point about the flip-top. I went to look at it and it appears pristine. It even had a bit of Christmas wrapping paper stuck to it, which makes sense given his story. I guess I could weigh it and see if it's close, assuming I can find an accurate weight for it. benjamin4172
Almost every time when I saw a Set in shrink wrap, the wrap also kind of shrunk the Box...so maybe you watch out for wrinkles in the carton caused by the wrap. Maybe you just tell them you want to be assured if everything is alright and if they remove the wrap and everything is ok you buy.
