Has there been any sightings of rexie at RRP since sunday?  I've been checking online here and there, and came up with nothing.  Seems to be the only set that is dropping in resellers on amazon over the last few days.  Stay away, rexie. . .. stay away!  As of today, only Trex Tracker and Raptor Escape have risen.  Trex is now over 100 on amazon, and just saw RE going for 85.  Finally broke over the 2x mark, but of course after fees and shipping, it's not really 2x.

Trex and RR both just popped in stock at target. Have been in and out of stock all day

For newbies: 21R5 = 3rd week of May 2015

I know what it means, I was responding to a post saying theirs were 09 date codes, meaning much older stock. Thanks for calling me a newbie.

I don't think the "newbie" comment was directed toward you but newer members in general.  Darth Raichu isn't really Sith material :). He's a nice guy,

That was information meant for the newbies in general since the typical follow up to posts like yours is "what do the codes mean?". I was being proactive and was not calling you a newbie :dontknow:

As an owner of all JW and all but 1 Dino set, I don't get the fuss about the 75918 T-Rex set.

The vehicle isn't in the movie. The T-Rex is 99% identical (mold-wise) to the two Dino ones. The minifigs are "meh".  At least the I-Rex is a new mold.

i say just add I-Rex and T-Rex to just about any 2 larger city sets for some fun.  Then let the Dinos duke it out.

Well it was live at target.  But, back on the endangered list it goes

As the owner of the similar T-Rex from the Dino series, I agree. I already have a T-Rex so I wasn't going to get this set from the JW wave. I still may not open one. The thing is, all the kids who saw the movie missed the Dino series so this is their chance to get a T-Rex. I would imagine most end users aren't even building the vehicle and are just letting T-Rex and I-Rex duke it out, as you suggest. Of course they also need RR for Blue to help as well ;).

Just now purchasing it, the only reason I could see to buy one for play value if you already have a Lego T-Rex would be to recreate giving the Haskins figure what he deserves.

did you watch the movie? T-Rex FTW

yup.  I'm make pretty big JP fan (novels and 2-3 of the movies).  It's just the T-Rex Tracker is sorta disappointing as a Lego set.

I also know kids dig the T-Rex

This line went from "slightly under the radar" to "most hoarded theme" in just around a week. What if these things do stick around for another year?

Some people will be disappointed, some will be happy they actually didn't miss out.

I'm completely torn on the T-Rex set. On the one hand the vehicle is silly, and does not resonate with the film like the other sets do. The raptor escape has a very memorable scene, the IRex has the containment area which is key to the film, and it's a big cool building.

The T-Rex set just feels like the dino and nothing else desireable. Perhaps knowing that you can get almost the exact same dino from previous themes makes me more down on this set than the others which feel new and unique and true to the film.

A further question i have is, will Jurassic World be a movie that lives on beyond this year? Will people care about JW next year? Does it just blend into all the other Jurassic movies, or does it stand on its own as something iconic?

If the answer to those questions is NO, then i don't think this theme has the legs it needs to really be big.

I know kids ALWAYS love dinos, but do they love them enough to be crazy completist collectors? Do they love JW enough to pay big $$$ for a hard to find raptor escape over an easier to find Raptor rampage 2-4 years from now?

I know people feel this way about Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and others.....Does Jurassic World reach that level of fandom?

In a word... no. At least not yet. JP 3 was a stinker, and this movie was a big risk. It paid off.

I think the popularity of TLM and related sets is a good gauge. I parted out one of the first Double Decker Couches I found at Target last January and nearly tripled my money. A week ago, I cleared a WM of $11 couches. Those will go in cold storage until the next movie because the demand for TLM merch is gone. Those other franchises you mentioned have huge and rabid and well-established fan bases. The characters, story, and world-building of JW isn't at that level.

Buy, but buy carefully. The movie will still be in our short term memory this Christmas season... the future... who knows?

I agree. Buy, but buy carefully. Also, as always, try to buy at discount!

These JW-sets will do well. Kids love Dino's. The last Dino theme from 2012 did very well. And there even was no successful movie to back it up.

Well it's the highest grossing movie after six weeks at the box office, so yes, I think Jurassic World has a lot of legs and umph behind it.  These sets are also very popular, and i'd say a vast majority of them were not hoarded, but opened and played with.  Only in the last week were they taken by resellers, but by that point, they had become a lot more scarce from early may when you could find most of them in the stores.

Fact is that the Trex crossed the bridge from not just JW, but is the same one that also appeared in JW 1 and 2.  If this is the only JW trex made, he's going to be money.  In fact, it seems that this set is the only one that sells out instantly, not just at most stores, but online.  He's always the first to go.  Target had him last night, but it lasted less than 2 hours.  Regardless, I think this is one of the few lines with some potential.

I think this is far for hoarded within the last week if people are finding empty shelves.

Some JW sets are selling out online soon after reappearing. The horde is hoarding. And "anything in quotes" isn't the truth-truth, it just has some truthiness to it. :jester:
