Anyone have experience selling minifigs, polybags, and other small items direct to retail in a storefront?

We operate a small souvenir gift shop in a beach town in Michigan. The town is packed from Memorial Day thru Labor Day and the town only has a junky toy shop (with no LEGO). I've thought about adding a few display cases with individual minifigures, packs of Collectible Series minifigures, smaller sets (polybags) and the like to satisfy those parents looking to keep their kids happy. I wouldn't have room for large sealed sets, and I'm not sure the market would be there for those.

Anyone have any experience or war stories to share from brick & mortar retail? Or even convention sales? I'm trying to figure out what items would be most in demand, etc.

Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea. Troll Target or WM clearance for the best deals.

You might look into ordering some custom torsos with a Michigan logo or something. Not too expensive.

Love the custom torso idea, we sell to a few of the pad printers through our BrickLink store now.
