Clever use of tech. I wonder what the AR bricks/stickers will look like. There is a high price point model ($119 USD) so I wonder about a new Haunted House. I still think the previous one is rather safe, however as the new pricing for Lego would accommodate a full house at that price, just a facade.

The idea of "catching ghosts" using augmented reality on your phone reminds me a lot of catching Pokemon using augmented reality on your phone (Pokemon Go game).  I never played it but it was wildly popular.  Of course the scope of play wasn't limited to the set you had in front of you but the entire world.  So similar but different.  It will be interesting to see how this works.

Finally something innovative from LEGO.  Not sure if it will be super popular, but kudos for trying

That school looks badass ;)

Agree - I hope the the Train, and Diner are done this well.

This just seems like a slightly more advanced version of the Fusion line, but instead of taking a picture and playing the game without any more Lego, you need to keep the model around to keep using the app.

I don't believe Fusion was very popular, you can't download the apps anymore, but this may fair a little better as they are complete sets that look interesting.

If this is successful and takes off, I could see then bringing back the Indiana Jones theme with the new movie coming out, PLUS revamping the old sets to include this AR function. At least that is a hope of mine.

Please don't give them an excuse to rehash old Star Wars set... yet again.  Although can you imagine a throne room for either the emperor or snoke using a cell phone to mimic the hologram?  lol, surely someone will MOC that with this tech.

The more I think about it, can you imagine LEGO City scapes using this tech?  How cool would that be?  Cities could actually come to life.

I wonder how customizable it's going to be.  The more it is, the more it'll take off.

Needs VR headsets with xbox controller really though to give it that extra F Ya factor.

I would imagine another step would be to have AR Instructions. Where you have to build on a special mat and the next bricks would appear transparent-style like The Lego Movie with the part number and everything.

Lego could totally just build a corrugate phone frame for your face so your hands are free to build.

I'm sure someone at LEGO has already proposed a LEGO VR headset to go with this.

I'll admit, when staring at a pile of LEGO, I'd love to have software identify the part I'm looking for like in the LEGO movie.  If it was connected to the LEGO parts database it sure would be helpful with identifying parts as a whole.

I'm a train nut, so imagining being able to wear VR headgear, and seeing augmented sceneries around my trains while they're running would be awesome.

Or heck, augmented "life" in your modular cities would truly be epic.

I love the what I've seen of the sets and the idea.  My wife loves Halloween, so I don't think I'll have any complaints from her when I get these for my daughter and I.  She may actually want to build some of them!!!

Maybe it’s on purpose because it’s supposed to look like a dilapidated building?

Or maybe there’s something in the AR that uses in that space, i.e. an exploding column or birds nest, or who knows what.
