Ed Mack Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 There's a reason it was sold for 99 and it wasn't charity. There was obviously something gong on for LEGO to discount such a large set 50%. Slow sales or over production, improper build or just plain unpopular...or maybe a combination...we will never know. Regardless, the set will do quite well in the aftermarket IMO. Quote
KG204 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Very short lifespan, a decent build, the probability that this set won't ever be remade/rereleased again, at least for 20 years. I see this set doing very, very well in the future long-term speaking. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 UCS ships are meant to be tied to ceiling fans and spin on high until they hit 12 parsecs. I'm still laughing from this for no good reason. And why did it remind me of all those Wii videos where someone ends up throwing it into the TV or something else? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAhIqX6lSCs 1 Quote
jaisonline Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 There's a reason it was sold for 99 and it wasn't charity. Yup. Retail price was too high for the market. Most likely, Lego was left with way too much inventory so they (along with TRU) needed to move stock. Thus a $99 special was announced although it was more like a clearance sale. Demand shot up. Then other retailers lowered their prices to get in on some of the action even though they couldn't charge $99. Quote
jaisonline Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 this might be the last chance to get the b-wing at a low price.Link Works out to $266.88 if you buy two (before tax) . That's $134 each. Not the same as the $99 price from last May 4th but good enough. Quote

Nearly the same $99 price from last May 4th. Are you sure? Only the 2nd one you get 30% off. The first one you still have to pay for the full price. Quote
Jackson Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 My total for two B-wings after 7 percent sales tax was $270.59 ($135.295 each). Quote

DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I was waiting for a good sale to grab a couple more of these. When Target and Walmart run out of stock, the price is gonna jump. Now maybe people wouldn't pay 200 before so they wont now, but I think it will rise. Once something is gone and will never be on a shelf again, peoples opinions change. Quote
Diabolos80 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I put 2 b wings in my Target cart. Paypal total said $305. How'd that happen? Are you guys getting free shipping somehow? Quote

DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Last 5 sold on Ebay: $179, $200, $180, $200, $170 All were BIN except the one that went for $180. Looking good people. Hopefully the sale this weekend depleted Targets stock. I think once it and walmart are out, it is at $200 easy as people freak that its gone. Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Earlier today I was scanning my shelves and one set stood out...The UCS B-Wing. I love the box. I love the size of the box...it's huge. It looks like a $300 set. Regardless of whatever issues the set might have(if any), it looks damn impressive in the box! LOL 1 Quote

It just sucks that the dang thing is so big for the piece count. I wish it could have at least been the same size as HH or Arkham. Or R2D2. Storing it is frustrating. Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The $100 B-Wing was the easiest way to indicate who is a reseller. Come to think of it, the whole headhunting for resellers by TLG started shortly after May 4th. Quote

I think that the B-wing is going to be my first big score - that first love affair every investor has. I haven't been in the game severely long and I have had a couple of scores, but I haven't had any sets actually retire to the point that I am super confident they will appreciate (that will change when LOTR is gone). I wish I had more - 6 is good though. Quote
jeff_14 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I love this set. My 7 year old son and I built it together and now it is proudly displayed in his bedroom. I have never had any issues with it breaking and I actually have "flown" it around a bit in my hands and opened and closed the wings frequently. It makes short work of my ultimate tie interceptor from the same movie. Quote

I'm not sure of the weight, but many of the B-Wing's pieces are quite large in comparison to other sets. The amount of ABS plastic has a lot to do with price. Quote
MartinP Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I just noticed this and I thought I would let the other members know. I saw that the B-Wing fighter is NOT out of stock in the UK. This surprised me a lot. Ever since the $99.99 sale on the set, the set has been out of stock for a long time. Here is a link for the set in the UK. Quote
CNH1974 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 It is slightly odd, as the lego stores had the 30% off sale to clear their stock back in June. Then they go and restock the LEGO Shop at Home site. Quote

kunfuzd Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Before I became an investor, I missed the 50% off of the B-Wing back on May 4th. I've since bought 4 @ Wal-Mart for around $157. LEGO Shop at Home currently shows Sold Out and some forum members (outside of US) are saying it's EOL at their LEGO Shop at Home. Amazon has it near retail, $199, TRS @ $229, and eBay inbetween all those prices. Am I missing something here? It just came out! Shouldn't it be going for another 2 years or so? Quote

I do not think you are missing anything. During the 50% off sale, a lot the B-Wing were sold, since then it has been in and out of stock. Before, the sale happened, I thought it would be going for at least two years, not I am not so sure. it is better to have some in case it EOL soon. 1 Quote
grackleflint Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 One of my smaller local LEGO stores has it in stock with a "Retiring Soon" label on it. On the other hand, another bigger LEGO store with more traffic 20 miles away also has it but does not have the "Retiring Soon" label. Quote

My local Lego store has not had the B-Wing in stock since May. Quote
