Jeff Mack Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I watched this over the weekend on Netflix. Four episodes so far. Star Wars, Barbie, He-Man, GI Joe. All were fascinating on how these things got made. I think quite a large percentage of users on this site would get something out of it. If anything a fond memory of being a kid. I recommend it. 7 Quote
LegoMan1212 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 2nd this, I watched this over xmas vacation. Fantastic series. I grew up with He-Man, my parents kept most of them, although they are not in the best shape. The movable parts (arms and legs) got a little stiff from what I remember. Quote
Sandwraith Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Yup really good, can't wait to see what other toy lines they cover in the future. Quote
jaisonline Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 @Jeff Mack I also enjoyed this show. My least favorite was the Kenner Star Wars episode only because I watched Brian Stillman's Plastic Galaxy 2 years ago which covered 95% of what there is to know about the toy line. That movie is currently on Hulu and maybe even Netflix. Brian was also a consulting producer on two TTTMU episodes. I believe the remaining four episodes to be released are about Transformers, Hello Kitty, LEGO and Star Trek. Quote
zskid00 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I really enjoyed all of the interviews with current and former Mattel, Hasbro, and Kenner employees which gave great insight into the design and manufacturing process for these toys. I had no idea Barbies that grew breasts was a toy feature before watching this: 1 Quote
minicoopers11 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Thanks for the heads up. Haven't seen it pop up on my netflix yet, am definitely adding to my list. Quote
longshot Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 I liked the show, but seriously is the intro just god awful or what...........lol Quote

I'm interested in watching - I didn't know it was a thing. But I found it funny that he came across it. Quote

You might want to be careful with the kids though. I think I remember a couple of F-bombs in there at one point or another. Lego is supposed to be featured in the next four episodes due out in the spring. Can't wait! Quote
lobo1969 Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Season 2 will be out May 25th and there looks to be a LEGO episode! This is a great series specially if you were a child of the 80s: 1 Quote
seapotato Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Love the series. Can't wait for the new eps!Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk Quote
Jeff Mack Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Just a reminder that season 2 is available today with the LEGO episode. 2 Quote

Jeff Mack Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Just finished watching it. Was a good episode and good for those that really don't know the history of LEGO. I thought they might have talked about Ideas, but didn't. Quote
exciter1 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I was disappointed they didn’t cover anything from the UCS, modular, or larger specialty sets. Quote
minicoopers11 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 It didn't present any information I didn't know already or really to anyone who had watched pretty much any documentary or short film about the LEGO Group in recent history. I still enjoyed the presentation. It was quite well done. Definitely a must watch if you HAVEN'T watched anything similar about LEGO in the past. Quote
lobo1969 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 There HAVE been other LEGO documentaries in the past bunch of years so this one stood in the middle of the pack. The other toy episodes proved to be very good and informative. I mean who really knew anything about Hello Kitty's history until watching that episode. Quote
Mark Twain Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I found it mostly boring, and while the tone was supposed to sarcastic, I found it to be grating after 15 minutes.Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum Quote
Thumper Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Wow, really bad production quality & painfully poor presentation style - was this show originally just a podcast or something off youtube? Quote
seapotato Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 It wasn't that interesting...I think the first 4 episodes of the series were more fun. Quote

Achilles Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 I enjoyed this episode, though I agree - Season 2 isn't as good as season 1. I didn't know the whole Yellow brick instead of grey because of the no tank thing. That was pretty interesting. 1 Quote
Zelgazra Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Just saw the episode last night. Found that fact interesting as well. Though never stated to me as a child, I think it was always implied... I understood without the need of an explanation. There could be what we'd refer to today as fantastical violence (founded in historical fact of course), knights with swords, pirates with swords and muskets, wild west cowboys with pistols and rifles. But life-like violence of modern warfare was never a thing for lego. It wasn't a statement they ever needed to make. I love that. Quote
