I saw this set on display today at my local Lego store and the mgr the was nice enough to show me the box.  To me, the set looks about the same size as 10179.  Just lots of extra  greebling probably account for the extra elements.

The box's thickness also seems about the same as 10179's.

As other BP members showed with pics and said, the promo brochure is a very nice touch.

Also why is the space slug set pictured side by side?

Ya know....that would make total sense to re-release the "Space slug" collectors set with the 75192 release as a "freebie" with purchase.

time will tell but great observation

if I had a wish list of freebies with this set, that be one of them plus an exclusive "Jedi master luke" poly bag exclusive figure added to the mix....heck if were payn $800 large ?Why not??

Saw the Falcon in person today at the St. Louis, MO Lego Store.  Of course it looks great.  Other than the price, my other nitpicks are:  The cockpit canopy should have been brick built.  Yes, it looks cleaner than the old one, but because the canopy is all one piece it cheapens the overall looks of the ship a bit.  LED lighting.  A flagship set like this one deserves it.  Sure there will be 3rd party options, but adding some blue lighting to the rear engines would have really looked great and added value.  The much cheaper Megabloks Star Trek Enterprise has LEDs and that set cost a 1/3 (or for some of us 1/10th).  Regardless, this set isn't for me.  It's waaaayyy too expensive and too large to properly display.  Should be a boon for 3rd party wall mounts.  I asked the Lego store employee if they built it in store like they do other sets and he said no.  I asked him if it was Kragled and he didn't think so.  Therefore I have no idea how these were shipped without arriving in a thousand pieces.

It's amazing how many ideas come out for what could have been done with this set.  It's great that they added all this detail, but yes, they should have taken it that extra step and invested in the box, lighting, who knows maybe some motorized features.  Stuff that dreams are made of.  Yes I love it, but for $800, it could have still been better.  Maybe in 10 years.

I agree, that box costs $3.00 usd.... imagine what they could come up to with a $5.00 dollar box......

Sorry if someone has already posted it, but here are a couple of photos of the set from my local store. It's hard to capture the scale of the set in these photos, but it's impressive. The box is really cool too.
Whenever someone stopped to gawk at it, someone else would ask "are you getting one"? There seems to be only two answers....1) oh, yeah for sure... or 2) are you kidding me? It's an $800 Lego set!?!  The former mostly from dudes...the latter mostly from moms with teenage kids..haha

Question, where and when where these photos taken? I asked at one of my local Lego stores if they were going to display this set on September 1 because the force Friday brochure said it would be. They told me flatly that the company doesn't display sets before they're available for purchase.
