Leicester sq opening at midnight on launch day and Hans will be signing copies of the Falcon. So do I make the wife think I'm having an affair or getting the Falcon. I don't know which would be worse. :-)

Cheese - any word on how much supply Leicester Sq will have for the launch? Also any one-off extras / exclusives on launch night?

I doubt that they will run out, given that it is a special launch event and the designer is on hand. They'll probably have camera crew there as well. Plus they will need to have them available the next day for those people who couldn't make the event. It would be quite embarrassing if someone showed up 10am the next day and they had run out. Remember it is the flag store.

I think the designer turning up is probably special enough. As Val-e mentions a signed one will probably go for a hefty premium and a long way to a normal one during VIP promo or sale time. Nonetheless there is some special VIP card for those that buy it, but don't think it's exclusive to the launch event.

I'd wager a bet that a large number that turn up will be brickpickers! It's open from midnight till 6am.

IMO this set is great for Lego fans who want to build this mammoth set, but it is yet another blow to the foundation of Lego investing. I hope the modulars, which are not great investments anymore, again IMO, will not suffer the same fate. Yes, it is different and more detailed, but it is still a remake. This has a cascading effect on all Lego sets and hurts the entire market. There is no reason to buy the retired set because you can wait a few years and there will be another one and even when this does not materialize the thought is still there keeping people from pulling the trigger. Yes, I know not many people are patient enough to wait 8 years, but then again, people's patience can increase as the price raises like it did for the old UCS MF.

In local circles, excitement of the new MF is widespread and I know of at least 25 day one buyers personally. I'd be very surprised if it's not sold out within the hour.

May I predict a 3-4hr queue at Leicester Square, even longer than the stressful horror of opening day?

I've now decided to buy mine when the frenzy settles down, hopefully during good promo or discounted. I'll be on vacation by 14SEP and there's no way that my dodgy neighbour is taking delivery. Also, nothing will ever force me to face the stress and horror of going to London even if Harrison Ford was signing it!

Hmmm.... Tesco 3-for-2?

If you look at legos latest post, the signed box of the New MF is not Hans. Odd!

If the guy is going to be this designer Lad with specs, instead of seeing my money they will see my middle finger.
He deserves more like ice bucket challenge in the middle of Russian Syberia rather than recognition from AFOL's.
