I still have three 10179 from the first production run cause I just didn't want to part with them. Could have made some money but decided not too. It's not always about the money. I have three kids so maybe one day they'll each get one. And I bought the sets originally myself from lego so I didn't pay too much for them either.

Nice, only $900CDN! I was expecting $1000CDN or more considering the current exchange rate. Looks like Canadians get a break on this set, considering $900CDN is about $720USD.

Wonder how many numbered bags the set contains? More than 20?...epic advent calendar possibility!

Anymore details about the MF VIP card? I wonder how limited they are...?

Either way, I'm taking the day off work and will be waiting for the Lego Store to be open on 14 Sep!

Who else is going to be in line at their local store on day-1?

Right now, there is no helping the 10179.  It's a race to the bottom.  People who keep it, want it and won't sell it anyway.  But at some point, the bottom will be hit and a buying opportunity will arise from the ashes.  Some prudent investors/resellers/speculators might take advantage of this and do well with the 10179...a second time.  There will be people who want them all.  To an anal LEGO elitist jerk like me, displaying them all is the only way to go.  Go big or go home...

On a slightly separate note, I'd love to display all the millennium falcon sets or designs from Lego. Any idea how many that is?

The mad rush to the bottom has already started on eBay. 2 UK listings, the lowest at £830 BIN, so take off the eBay fee (£ 84.50) and then the Paypal fee (£ 28.93) and the sellers gross profit is a measly £ 76.57  -  There are some complete and utter idiots out there....

This is where the fun begins.

Eleven sets in all plus the two other things for completeness...

4488, 4504, 7190, 7778, 7965, UCS 10179,  the 75030 Microfighter, 75105 and now 75192,  plus a minibuild from the Lego Star Wars magazine (SW911607) and a mini build at TRU.

There was also a Key Ring (852113) and a Messenger Bag (5001050).

Hell how many people give a damn about having the original UCS Snowspeeder and the original UCS Sandcrawler?

If I could justify the money I would. I like the build and missed them, I have brought a few old sets like slave 1 7153 to sit next to my original 7144. also falcon 7190, I have brought other sets just for the minifigs like jabbas palace 9516 for boushh and the rancor pit for the rancor and to complete 9516 all used. I like the old sets. But I also like the new sets ninjago city being my all time favorite build, I've never even thought about ninjago till I had seen a picture of that. I would buy cloud city if I had the funds spare.

I think there is always a market for new and old and I like the fact it is still possible to do both. I have been collecting some harry potter sets lately just to see what there like as my 7 year old is into the films/books, and my wife wants to build them.

Just to give you an idea, I'm a Star Wars fan more than a Lego fan.  I have seen all the movies, all of The Clone Wars and Rebels and read the Son of Dathomir comic.  I only have Star Wars sets.  I just want the latest most accurate sets.

Agreed.

If this set is bigger, more detailed, and higher piece count it's a no brainer - $800 is better than $2700. Remakes of the more popular sets are going to continue to happen. I'd rather see this than more L e p i n crap.

Thank you for this list. However, I think there's at least one Lego MF rendition that needs added. I believe it was in the 75097 2015 SW advent calendar. It's really small, but for a completist it still counts. It's little copies like this that are easy to miss. I'd be interested in knowing if there are other small ones similar to this one.

I am also a Star Wars fan but a lego fan as much, I watched Star Wars when Star Wars was Star Wars 100's of time before I was old enough to go to school and my parents had to replace the VHS tapes many times, I had many of the original kenner toys when they were released, but I also appreciate how the franchise has changed over the years in lego, I remember the day I stumbled across the original Lego sets in a small toy shop, I hadn't brought Lego for 12 years (or had it brought for my birthdays etc), but I purchased every set I could there and then. And displayed them above my TV in my first flat.

I really just want one of those LEGO boxes with wheels and a handle.  If I have to buy one of these sets to get one, I guess I will suck it up.

What I want to know is if you get the wheelie box if you order online.  I would prefer to order one, but I have a feeling the wheelie box is only for in-store purchases.  Any word on in-store/online differences?  And yes, I really just want a wheelie box, too.

Hopefully the special VIP card is metal or something better than a regular card. Something like the Starbucks cards they have around Christmas would be cool.

I'll still buy it, but the minifigs are a big disappointment. Any minifigures in this set should have been given the 10123 Cloud City treatment - more detailed and exclusive to the set. I do appreciate that they spent .03 giving Han and Leia new face prints.  A fully molded mynock and furby would have been better too.

You are one of millions of fans with different opinions and tastes. You speak only for yourself. There are many people out there who will want the 10179, just like there are fans of old Technic sets or Classic Space sets. The 10179 will find its groove again one day. To me, my MISB 10179 is no different today as it was yesterday. Same iconic set.

I totally agree...a cloud city treatment would have been Awsome with an additional updated lando and a bespin luke(minus the hand with a distraught face print)

but as of late, exclusive minifigs are unimpressive with all this 40th anniversary hype goin around you'd think we'd be getting Awsome exclusives like that...heck a "chromed headpiece" for R2-d2 with Print would be a great polybag extra...for example.

so I'll be honest...the fact we get anything is a welcome surprise.

I was a little let down when the dual molded leg rumor of these figs was false but the exclusive face prints was really nice to see...

so let's recap:

we are getting a cool VIP Star Wars Falcon card

a scarif trooper exclusive poly bag (ummm ok whatever -lol)

cardboard wheels(probably in store)

and one heck of a nice Box with over 7500 pieces to build something rediculously fun and collectable

???not too shabby
