There will always be people who will want a complete collection, which will underpin the value of such sets.  Hence there will always be demand for the falcon (especially 1st editions with coa) , snow speeder, x-wing, although prices have and in the case of 10179 will inevitably come down.  The snowspeeder was achieving regularly about £650 for a good used set with instructions and box in good condition. Post the re-release which is generally considered an improvement on its predecessor prices are now about £400. Hence an almost 40% drop.  If you apply this similar drop to the falcon.  Then a used set that was regularly getting about £2000 will settle at about £1200 which would still be a premium on the £645 rrp of the re re-release and still a significant premium on the RRP of the original.

uh oh, a star destroyer in the btm left corner, remember this MF in the corner of the new DS... are they telling us something in front of our faces again?

Will be selling my 10030 shortly.  I think it's a given if you go by the breadcrumbs and teasers lego have laid down for the new falcon.

I have one 10179 for my personal collection. I will put it on sale this week to get my 2200 Euro back...

It does not make any sense to keep the old stuff when the new one is much better - the same applies to Snowspeeder and X Fighter...

This is becoming very cyclical. I bet ten years from now this will happen again. "Everything we've ever done or will do, we're gonna do over and over and over again."

New Death Star was nearly identical remake in opposite to the new Falcon. So the price decrease won"t be such strong. I assume that it will be still around 1000 Euro for a sealed one... (Two months after release of the new one)

Hypothesis on the value of a limited edition first run MF vs non limited produced MF after retirment?

LE will not take a hit. The other fellow is anyone´s guess.

Some more juice about 75192.

From Lego source in China. The Lego 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon to be released in Oct 2017. A beast of whopping 7541 pieces of bricks. Retail price in China would be CNY 8499 (USD 1275). The set came with signature card of the designer. Also there would be limited edition free gift restricted to 150 world wide. The limited edition free gift includes a Star Wars watch, a BrickHeadz and a commemorative card. The dimension is 21cm height, 84cm long, 56cm width. Usually the Lego price in China was 50% higher than U.S, so the price in U.S shall be USD 787. Release date would be Oct. 1 2017 at Lego Certified stores.

In case there is really limited edition like stated on the Chines box:

1200 for the limited box

1000 for the usual box

I am expecting that they do over several millions of copies...

In case the whole line will be limited:

6000 for the limited box

5000 for the usual box

As someone who recently bought a sealed 10129 and 7191, those are both fleet ships and having more than one on display doesn't hurt. As a collector I wanted both. MF is a one off ship so to me doesn't warrant more than one. 10179 will definitely be left out in the cold here unless I find one on significant discount.

Haha could you imagine if this was fake?  :)

As amazing as the Falcon Looks in the leak I am going to have to agree with you. I can definitely see there are a lot of changes made good to 10179, but the bottom part of the ship looks like it wasn't changed at all. The plates on the bottom in the back are an exact replica to the ones seen on 10179. Of course we are unable to see the bottom at this point, but it makes me think that someone took inspiration from other people and modded their 10179 just a little bit and swapped out some pieces as well. Also an Imperial Star Destroyer appears at the bottom left of the ad so I guess Lego will tease us with new upcoming UCS Sets always being in the bottom left corner of their boxes/advertisements? I am still fishy about this supposed leak, but the official model will either be this or something very closely to it.

I have to agree, something isn't right.  Although I would never expect a Disney logo on a Chinese knock-off box, there were several things that looked off to me as well.

The cockpit was the first thing that didn't look right to me.  It's the same cockpit on the regular MF used for years.  That won't hold 4 minifigures.  It barely holds two.  Hard to believe the community would accept that as a UCS anything.

The second thing that looked off were the holes on the top of the nose.  They looked smaller than 10179.

Then today I came across this picture on ebay.  It is advertised as instructions only for a custom UCS MF "not 10179".

The ship in the pic looks a lot like the ship in the photo: cockpit, the holes on top of the nose pieces, the middle between the nose pieces, the round part to the cockpit, the raised pieces around the stern of the ship, etc...  Not 100% the same but very similar.  Notable differences are the dorsal turret, some color changes and greebling.

What do you guys think?

It's a knockoff...It will be missing pieces and full of asbestos dust.

I think it's actually a leak from LEGO China. This is the translation I saw from a reddit user:

Quote

Main text reads "The largest and most collectible model in the history of LEGO Star Wars featuring a complex hull with amazing detail and design." with the red bubble saying "Limited edition release in authorised LEGO stores this October."

And the key points in the bottom right:

  • 75192 Deluxe Millennium Falcon (deluxe / luxury, see 豪华)
  • 7500 pieces
  • Set more than 21cm high, 84cm long and 56cm wide
  • Suitable for ages 16 years and older
  • ¥ 8,499

Notice the absence of STRN WRNS logo

Shouldn't the Star Wars Logo be in a Gold color like previous UCS Sets, or since this is the biggest Lego Set Ever shouldn't it be like a Platinum look to it? The planet also looks very low in resolution compared to the rest of the photo. I honestly don't think its very difficult to change out the pieces seen in the 15 second trailer from last week. I almost feel like someone photo shopped a 10179 set that had all the new pieces seen in the teaser trailer. I am not doubting that its real, just speculating that the ad feels a little bit off compared to other UCS Sets advertisements.
