This is positive news overall for the LEGO fan and collector.  A 7541 piece Falcon (if it is a Falcon) will be quite different from the 10179...almost 50% bigger.  Quite impressive.  This set will impress any fan or non-fan for that matter and will bring a huge buzz to LEGO once again.  While a release of another UCS Falcon will hurt the 10179, one can hope that the new set will be limited and that the price will be restrictive to most of the buying public.  There will always be people that want the 10179, especially to display next to this behemoth.  Regardless, this set will be a flipper's dream this Holiday season...

Looking fwd to the set but I don't know if this is going to be an efficient flip. Online you would need to get $2100 to be able to compete with other toy's ROI in 4th quarter. Locally $1600 but I don't see getting that on much volume either. One fraudulent online buyer (and this would be a very high risk item) would really put a dent in profits. If they do a limited numbered edition we will buy alot otherwise I don't think I want to get stuck trying flip an $800 set locally just to make a few hundred profit. If they do limited numbers that would be great news for resellers.

All valid points, but emotion plays a huge factor with an opportunity like this.  If it is a limited edition release with limited purchase possibilities...look out.

They hyping this so much I highly doubt it'll be limited edition. Anyone that really really wants one at retail price will be able to get it. Just gotta be ready when it goes live.

Totally agree, absolutely no way they would make this a limited edition... unless it doesn't sell.

I know many Star Wars and LEGO fans.  Few are as emotional about these big sets as you.

They could limit supply though - a 21309 on steroids. Go in and go big on this set and the rewards could be succulent as not may have the capital or are daring enough.

Other than illustrating the taj mahal/MF piece count difference I thought maybe otherwise it could be a clue that it involoves two substantial separate builds - the colour split of the pile representing the proportion of bricks allocated to each?

The second pile represents Disney´s royalty points.

Some say there might be more than just a Falcon in the set but we´ll know soon enough.

I was thinking, with this many pieces, perhaps it comes with a few small side builds? e.g 2-3 small TIE fighters to chase it

I truly hope not. I want all 7541 pieces to be the Falcon and figures only. I hate little side builds.

The box better be bigger than that 4785 - Duplo Black Castle, or it will be a major fail.

Aren't you keeping up on your BrickPicker YouTube?  The answer is out there at minute 11:56.

I have a wife, and she has expressly forbidden me from buying this set, until certain other non-essential things are purchased first (read: golf cart for cruising the neighborhood)
.

My wife will be with me in line outside the Lego Store on day-1, since she wants it just as much as I do.

eBay scammers will be out in force waiting to pounce on this! Just make sure you have a safe outlet to sell when the time comes.
