I think people are highly overestimating the amount of buyers who are looking to spend $1k+ on a set.  Obviously a lot less people will be able to afford scooping up UCS Falcons to resell compared to most other sets, but there will still be enough that this will be no different than any other set where people will be fighting for the slimmest margins possible in no time.

Risk vs rewards.  But the thing is, the older I get the less risk I want to take on :drag:

My point is that I don't think there will be much reward at the beginning when people are thinking the quick flip game will work on this set like it does on $150 sets.

I'm holding out for silly Timmy who gets one for Xmas, doesn't want it and puts it on CL for $400 ...

Or opens #1 bags, realizes that it took him two hours and there are 23 more numbers to go.

I returned to Lego almost a year ago, and as a 45 year old, I like to return to my inner child when I build.  In doing such, and eagerly anticipating the UCS MF, my inner child simply thinks the box must really be more than one set.  With enough squinting and studying of the photoshopped picture, I honestly think I see a pair of Tie Fighters pursuing the Falcon (actually I swear I see an Interceptor and Vader's ship above it).  The volume and shape of the box really scream that it is more than one box.  Could this really be a couple of ships?  (economically and piece-wise, it seems a more logical stretch than a 7,500 set for $800 being one ship).   I sure hope I'm not an idiot for thinking this, but it seems so logical to me.

.....and hello forum, hope you don't this being my first post!

I got a10030 that way. They had built one of the internal frames then gave up. All the plates where still bagged up.

Screenshot from twitter link! They're really milking this. What next. The number of bags or inner boxes?

So a manual of just under 500 pages. Original was about 315 pages. So doesn't look like a remake. Maybe the interior is being included.

As far as I found the original had about 310 pages, so at almost 500, the new one should be much more complex (Or simpler instructions...)

Could it actually be any bigger than the original? Anything bigger will be an issue in terms of display and not practical

I'm thinking the same. I don't expect it to be bigger, but "denser", so more details, a more sturdier build and heopefully a built-up  interior of sorts. The exterior size of 10179 is really about the limit of wha's sensibly handleable.

Or could this imply that it's not actually the UCS Millenium Falcon?

From a secret source I heard something about UCS Cloud City.... (with a launch pad for the existing Falcon?)

It seems like the policy "make it as simple as possible" applies with this one as well.
I was surprised while building Apollo Saturn V Lego was able to sacrifice A4 page just for one part.
Such a waste, but it's a result of their researches which say if kid can find the solution (where brick should be placed) within 30sedonds they are loosing the interest in building the toy.

So we are getting a Bible New Testament sized book.
+ extra pages for history of the shuttle, movie, development process etc.

That's the last two creator sets that they've used for comparison purposes.  If the next one is the Assembley sq (working back to the next set that was released) then who knows, it may not be a huge modular!  that would be hilarious!

You say it's a waste, and while on the surface I agree (and get frustrated by that) there's more that goes into it than that.

At this point, I would assume LEGO has quite a few standard sizes (page counts) for instructions. There has to be a certain number of pages so it can be bound correctly. Plus consideration for the size of the manual vs the size of the box.

I would hope at the point LEGO had developed a way to input the number of pieces, brick transactions, desired print size, and potential steps to construct a set and and have an output spit out to best utilize a desired size.

I'm sure at that point you get the designers involved again to see where you can collapse instructions, or expand where you need to, to fill out the best size manual size possible.

Before the end of the day no doubt someone will have x-rayed/photoshopped the manual in the latest tweet and there will an outline of the Falcon.

But whats this I find

The quality is slighty affected due the fact I have been up since 3am due to the Cubs
