If Lego has another first edition numbered out of 10,000 for the new MF, then I would buy it first day.  Otherwise, I will wait for discounts like triple VIP or Amazon discounts.

I spoke with a manager at the LEGO Store. He told me that there is a lot of truth to the rumors that a new UCS Falcon will release. Expected to be available in October. Should be around $600 with 5600 pieces. He said there was a large focus on hurting resellers and of course making something new available for fans.

LEGO is so shortsighted if they are still making business decisions based on combating resellers. We are the least of their problems right now.

We are the ones spending 600 on a set. Little Timmy won't be getting that for Christmas. I'm not mad at a remake (missed the first one) if they revamp certain UCS sets every 8-12 years I'm ok with that. Plenty of time to unload. Unless the "new" DS is a trend.... a core of their business is AFOL (despite being solely a child's toy) they hopefully won't stop realizing that soon. Having resellers is a good thing and keeps people buying. I don't see why lego would care about resellers personally...typically it's on retired sets anyway...bogus bricks and friends on the other hand...

Ah yes, the ever popular LEGO manager information pipeline. That's always good for a laugh. There are literally posters on this board with significantly more credible information than the average LEGO retail store manager.

Now I concur and believe that a 10179 remake is possibe, probable even, but I'm not buying any sort of corporate communication memo went out detailing the release reason as "hurting resellers"

Until 2 days ago I'd agree that "what lego employee said" is a joke, but I just learned that a major lego leaker, known on certain websites is an ex lego employee that I personally know for many years and never knew he is THAT active in lego community (sorry, don't think I can mention his name)

I just hope this isn't given the "Silent Mary" treatment with just the skeleton and a few detailed rooms. I want the whole ship and at least 10179 in size/eight otherwise I'm not interested. Since LEGO appear to be getting lazy, I think it'll be a 10179 with a spare rectangular radar dish and both EP4/5/6 and EP7/8 figures and... a cheese slope for good measure! Will there be a buying frenzy this time around? I'm not so sure.

I agree. I didn't even bring up resellers and I thought it was interesting that he just jumped to that.

I know lots of them are very active in various LEGO communities, fans groups, social media pages etc. I also think they probably are a major source of inside leaked information, early photos, anonymous quotes, etc.

Many seem to be very knowledgeable about the product and future development lines, I just stop short of 1) thinking The LEGO Group is actively trying to shove it to resellers 2) would disseminate that information down to the store level even if true and 3) the average store manager  would freely chat about that to random customers, unless they're just talking out their a**

I reserve the right to be wrong though, because really, who am I to know what I'm talking about here, it's all speculation.

Yes, I agree, and even with what I learned couple days ago, majority of Lego store employees still don't know a thing. Hoping for this new MF to be huuuuge.

Based off current trends @TabbyBoy, I really think we're going to see something more expensive than #10179, and maybe more detailed, but about 2/3's the physical size of the original

hey @Bold-Arrow the prospect of this set coming out will make me post :)  I'll spend the night over night in line at a mall to get one of these on opening day.  The higher the price the better I feel about the set.  The regret I have for not paying $2,500 two years ago for a mint boxed 10179 is disappearing the closer this gets.  Bring It.
