Jangs attempt to get a FREE set sent his way?? Hey I don't blame him, he has done a lot for the Lego community. But I don't think Lego is biting.

I'll give Jang the benefit of the doubt on this one. I really don't think he's trying to get a free MF out of this...

Man I am ACTUALLY REALLY excited about my black VIP card and the upcoming perks! I just want to know what everyone thinks ?? Exclusive GWPs? Exclusive set? Year long double VIP on Star Wars? My mind just keeps skipping from one idea to the next.

I'll hope for the best, but I wouldn't expect too much to come of these. I'm happy just to have the cool card, but I don't think the perks will be great.

Maybe a SW calendar for 2018 with coupon offers in store and/or early entrance to store on May 4th.

agreed.  i'm viewing at it as a free keepsake to throw in the box until i sell the set before the next remake.  who knows though.

maybe one of these days, the phillies or yankees will have lego night w/ dollar dogs for the black card holding big shots

i like jang's videos and agree with his statement of, " to publish a review video that will provide little to no value to potential buyers ".

let's be honest though.  i think he really wants to review it but the build and review for 75192 is too much work for the $ return.    he's also rightfully upset to make the 'trek' and turn up empty handed.  it was a waste of his time.

i guess it will take easily 40-50 effort hours to build it plus create / edit / polish / upload the video.  i applaud him for his stance and not working even harder than usual for little return (for himself or some viewers).

he'll wait for a sale or some promo.  he also might already have one through F5'ing his smartphone keyboard last Thursday.   this way, he can build at his own pace to enjoy it.

Going to build this while I wait to order the 75192...

Image result for 10179 millennium falcon

are you really going to build it?  it's a mother of a set to build but totally worth it. took me over a month building in March-April 2015 while the family were asleep a couple nights per week.  75192 is basically the same but with extra bells and whistles on the outside.

each time i was done building at night, i would carry it downstairs praying nothing would bump into it.  each night it would get heavier and heavier.

Everything he wrote about makes sense and some of the comments after do as well.  The number of sets that can be bought blows my mind.  $900+ investment is huge as well as that time investment.  I hope he does get it one day if and when he wants it.

That was my point...Who is hyping this set?  LEGO.  Speaking from first hand experience with manufactured hype, the rest is BS.   Sorry, it's a long story and you are new to the site, but one day I will write another book on how "LEGO Is A Better Investment Than Gold."

And why wouldn't they?  Lego (like most other brands these days) are doing PR through leveraged social media etc...  but the views are there too.  I don't follow your response to the other poster.  He said he didn't expect it to be this hyped.. you said it wasn't... then said it's Lego doing it.  So Lego manufacturers or not... it got lots of hype and attention.

trust me, I closely follow another brand that is notorious for its level of indirect marketing through its partners, "fans"', media and more (Disney) so I'm not blind to it.  But this thing has gotten plenty of non manufactured exposure too.  Anecdotally, Awareness and sharing around this is higher than any other set in recent memory.

I'll also say this:
logs of people on this thread were mocking the event on the run up, saying people are "sheep", they will get mugged, or that the will start fights...
the truth was London in the early hours was very civilised. everyone in hebqueue was civilised, maxing friends, holding each other's places in line while nipping out to get some food. Even in store there was no panic, no jostling or fighting. We were tired by 2am. But it was really great.
i think the "doom-Monges" were just miffed about not being there!
made me proud to be a Londoner and a Lego fan. As many of you have said, quite rightly, we do love to queue!
I thought that might have been the case. I think if the boxes were pre-signed the people would have just take them and gone. But somehow the idea started.

You mean London wasn't swarming with moped driving Lego thieves?

20,000 copies means that 1 in about 375,000 can have it, worldwide. Not sure what your definition is, but I call that rare.

Completely false logic.  The entire population of the world is not the potential audience for the inventory.

20,000 of anything is not rare, especially when people are buying them NIB with intent to hold.  Demand keeping prices high does not equate to rarity.  Anyone can buy volumes of 10179 in seconds without any prep, research, or waiting - that is not rare.

@belljohn did an awesome job on this video.

Beyond the size going to dimensional shipping costs... what was said that was unique to this set at all?  Should have just been called "should I flip Lego sets".  I found the video disappointing as it didn't talk about anything related to the set except to use it as an example.... that could have been any Lego set.

Tell the store manager that if you don't both get one, you'll no longer be family?

The only way around that is to pretend you don't know the person you're there with... that would be hard with kids though. "Shhhh, you don't know that strange lady in front of you in line ok?"

That´s so Beanie Babies Man! But everyone wants to be UCS Falcon Man - for now.

I asked about the taxis. Lego hired 50 for the whole evening. They would even take pope home outside of the m25. Gotta hand that to them. Really looked after everyone's safety.

The pope was in the queue to get a MILF at midnight????? This just gets stranger by the day.

I stand by the sheep comment - it´s just the sheep outsmarted the shepherds in this case! Some of them will even be richer than the shepherds now.

I don't think he wants one for free, (maybe) just thought why should I spend 900$ for their triumphant moment if they did not appreciated what done for TLJ sets?

He had all the rights to do those videos, TLJ sets were already everywhere in every shop but they showed their force against the better lego reviewer, inexplicably
