Indeed.

I was talking to a couple in front of me and they only wanted 1 but could easily have said they were both there to buy one (as long as both were VIP members).

They did not let us do that, they know us in the store, even though we each have a VIP Card, they said it was one per family...... I did not liked it, as I felt singled out... and  the limit is one per person, not by family , but what can you do.....

Tell the store manager that if you don't both get one, you'll no longer be family?

The only way around that is to pretend you don't know the person you're there with... that would be hard with kids though. "Shhhh, you don't know that strange lady in front of you in line ok?"

We did not took the kids this time, but the person giving the tickets is the only one that knows us that well....

The numbers are taken off the VIP card or queue number.  The inscriptions including the numbers were specified by the buyers. Buyers used their VIP card no or entry card no to designate that,  But someone could have wrote the lords prayer and the the two dudes would have written that on the box verbatim.  Hence, someone could have asked them to write 001.

Not true. The Lego staff member transcribing message stefised to put any number unless you showed your cards. I also saw the designers asking to check (the chap without the beard).

they were actually quite diligent about it.

Also everyone I saw ask for their "edition number" used their queue card number.

there was a strong spirit of fairness and solidarity that night

I think I witnessed this. Everyone in the queue wa speculating about families asking for multiple cards and wee concerned when family members turned to join the others.

but... when it came time to give out the numbered queue cards, I got exactly the number that the guy said I was when he did a head count an hour earlier.

i can honestly tell you, getting that queue card with the number really took the pressure off.

I had a different experience. No one asked to see the number I had or anyone around me and most were using their VIP number.

That said you're right about fairness etc and I didn't see anyone asking for inaccurate numbers

I chatted with some of the staff at my local Lego Store. They indicated that additional shipments are inbound and will be trickling in over the coming weeks and anticipate some stock for 01 Oct.

However, given what happened the other day I wonder if the online back-orders will now take precedent over scheduled stock shipments to the stores?

Worth also saying no one in the queue can across as a "flipper" they all seemed to want it really badly. So although some are trickling on to eBay if the "100" I think only a third will get resold. Just a guess. But I think the owners will cherish them mostly.

Yep, most seemed keen to buy and keep for sure

Fair enough. I can only speak for the people I saw. But I can see what you describe happening. I guess they were at least trying to be fair.

also the first guy in line, #1, clearly had been there since 4am and was wheelchair bound i believe so no one was going to dare touch his status as #1.

Yeah, he was their super early!

From what I saw the guys nearer the front didn't seem to be asking for numbers on the boxes. Some chap asked for it alittle ahead of me and then loads seem to follow suit.

I'll also say this:

logs of people on this thread were mocking the event on the run up, saying people are "sheep", they will get mugged, or that the will start fights...

the truth was London in the early hours was very civilised. everyone in hebqueue was civilised, maxing friends, holding each other's places in line while nipping out to get some food. Even in store there was no panic, no jostling or fighting. We were tired by 2am. But it was really great.

i think the "doom-Monges" were just miffed about not being there!

made me proud to be a Londoner and a Lego fan. As many of you have said, quite rightly, we do love to queue!

I thought that might have been the case. I think if the boxes were pre-signed the people would have just take them and gone. But somehow the idea started.

I think this also makes the numbered ones even rarer. Of the 150 only a proportion will be numbered. Those that don't will have the queue card as proof but it doesn't look as good. So an early numbered one should be valuable.

Yep, plus Lego sorted out cab rides home for loads of buyers which I thought was a nice touch.

It was a long and tiring day but a great one.

That was really a nice touch. Who was that lady who took you out? She seemed important in the Lego store hierarchy, was nice she made the effort

It will be interesting to see how many forgeries will be hitting eBay.

True. Folks will need to start using PSA/ DNA for these :)

Speaking of grading,  we shall start seeing AFA graded 75192s for the holidays. Ha ha

I think her name was Emma

Id already booked a cab so it wasnt required but I know loads of people I was talking too were trying to work out how best to get home. To walk and the store and have a cab waiting must have been super considering how tired everyone was.

Also... did anyone notice a few space slug sets being dished out?

3 or 4 were given out quietly.

1 to someone who should have been given an elite VIP card but their was lost. Space slug given as compensation.

2 (one each) for the Lego designers

1 I saw in someone bag, but didn't ask.

random. I asked and was told that an AFOL group had a few to give out in special circumastances for that night but there was no proper supply.

I asked about the taxis. Lego hired 50 for the whole evening. They would even take pope home outside of the m25. Gotta hand that to them. Really looked after everyone's safety.

Didn't happen with our group. Guy giving out the posted note didn't check anything. And there was a husband and wife just ahead of me who bought two and it was obvious they were together, so some inconsistencies with validation by Lego staff

I'd like it as soon as possible..... rather not wait til then.

I seriously did not think this thing would be this hyped. I thought the price would put off a few people.

I agree with you on this, and I honestly don't think Lego was ready for this level of initial demand. My local store got 10 and the manager didn't even think they would sell out on day-1 given that the store services an area of about 700,000 people (many of which are low incomers). This store is never busy and typically has 2 people at most working...they even seem to have a semi-regular stock of Saturn Vs on the shelves!

But yea, they instantly sold out of the MFs just like everywhere else.

Fair enough. Maybe they tightened it up. You may have been much further ahead than me!

(sorry buddy, didn't mean to be OTT with the "Not true", just meant "not true from what I saw)

Good spot! I thought I was going crazy with lack of sleep when I saw them. I asked them if they wanted theirs and they said "yes"... worth asking I thought.

still curious as to how that fourth person got one though.

i think they should have given away something similar as a one off that night. Though I'm just grateful to have been there.

Yeah, I was secretly hoping we'd be surprised with a space slug set each. That said I got lucky with the polybag hand outs in the queue. Darth Revan ?
