FYI, according to my store's manager, they're trying to push people to buy this online, for at least the immediate future. Stores will only be getting a few of these at a time because they don't want to have to deal with damaged boxes in store and storage issues.

They might have to deal with damaged boxes when folks return them to the store.

A great morning for me. Rolled up to the mall about 5 minutes before it opened. Ended up third in line. About 15 minutes later a horde came in and lined up. Sold my spot in line for $200 cash to a late arrival who showed up about 45 minutes after the mall opened, and made it to work on time.

Guy just walks to the front of the line and says "$200 to whoever is willing to sell their spot". An instant "I'll take that sir" before anyone else could think about it. There may be some peed off people in line behind him now, but that's his problem... not mine.

Was buying this to quick flip locally... made out quicker and faster than anticipated.

He was desperate to get that MF I would ask for 300 hundred.

Nope!  There is a new return policy created specifically for this set! Any sets over $500 are returned only with a re-stocking fee of 10% and they will not accept returns of an over $500 set in the store unless it was purchased there directly and was not opened.  The manager told us that any of these bought online need to be returned through the online system

Cool, it's about time they enforce some type of penalty for this.

Well, I thought I bought one this morning after 2 hours of trying. Now I get this email:

Thank you for your recent order. Please note that your order did not pass our order verification and has been cancelled.

The LEGO® Company takes its customers security and privacy very seriously. If you place another order with us, please ensure that all payment information you provide is accurate and that you are an authorized user for the payment type being submitted.

Sincerely,

LEGO Systems, Inc.
Consumer Services

I used the same payment methods and address I have used for four years. Geesh, I give up!

After 45 mins of banging my head against the wall, I had my 75192 order go though.  Only prob is my VIP info was lost during checkout so that will need to be resolved and at a later date (my $85 in VIP points weren't applied, no points earned and need to make sure I get that 'useless' black card.

note:  i was only able to get a successful order using my iphone browser.  the laptop browsers were useless and when i spoke with a customer  phone rep to fix my order, i was told their systems were partially down / frozen.

I'd be ringing them up.  Given the problems you've all had today it might be a screw up where they think you've already ordered past their limits.

If things were packed appropriately and the carrier actually handled the box with care like they should with any package I wouldn't care.  Most of my LEGO Shop at Home orders are exclusives like this where you should get a pristine box for the price.   To a collector the box artwork is just as important as the set itself.  I keep all my boxes for the artwork alone.  This return policy is not customer driven.  It demonstrates no interest in insuring satisfied customer experience.

I'm actually very pleased that I couldn't buy one.  I tried multiple times, but I will just wait for Double VIP points or discounts form Amazon or some other retailer.  It wasn't like I was going to spend three weeks building the damn thing anyway.

Yeah, I agree. I just got off the phone with my local LEGO store, just to see how things are.  They had 5 this morning and all 5 went out and they're getting two more tomorrow but the store manager's attitude was just wait until the release dies down in the next few months. This thing isn't going anywhere for awhile plus more perks are coming up.

He was also pretty happy when the news of this leaked and the re-sellers watched their prices fall immensely on the old Falcon.

I guess the LEGO store manager won't be happy to hear that some resellers will make money from the shortages.

Thing is, it was those inflated prices that gave Lego the opportunity to release such an expensive set and everyone see it as a veritable bargain.

I think genuine 10179's will still fetch good money although nowhere near the highs, it's the bl'd ones that will probably take the biggest hit.
