Someone on Reddit claims to have gotten a special email inviting them to the midnight release party at their local LEGO Store.

Anyone else?

Cm4sci, it would be helpful for the community if you include a link when referencing information or rumors.  Thanks.

Personally, I haven't received such an invite nor heard about it elsewhere.

I got an invite it starts at 23:59pm-1:00am Gmt on 13th September. Even if I had the time and money it would be to much hassle getting there at that time if the stores only open an hour and it's busy there may be a possibility that you may not get one. My best advice to anyone going is to get to London early book a cheap hotel for the night get to the lego store early 8pm-9pm maybe earlier if need be buy the set get a taxi to the hotel then the next day go home. It will be busy the next day but you could just get a taxi to the station think that would be the safest option then trying to transport that large box through London early hours in the morning the stores not that far from kings cross but I wouldn't feel safe taking the tube or walking the distance with that in both hands main thing is anyone that does go stay safe.

The black VIP card will be replacing with your current card (so same number) and it will be engraved your name on the back of the card.

I couldn't care less for the card. especially if it has my name on it, it becomes worthless :)

... sounds bad i know, but i can't sell the damn thing if it's got my name on it!

I think it's a pretty neat feature and a nice personal memento.

Lego wise, I'm a collector/enthusiast first. Having this card with my name on it will serve as evidence that "I was there" when 75192 was released.

I guess it's a personal thing, for me, the "day the 75192 was released" will come and go and after a few months, I will never think about it again.

Don't want to pee on your parade, this is just not doing it for me.

Give me a limited edition, and I will remember the day :)

I would much much much prefer a certificate like 10179. At least they are doing something

Who knows, Lego might surprise us yet...maybe.

London isn't that scary guys...

FYI there is a mobile police station parked up permanently in Leicester Square.

But this is getting over the top. It's not a Mad Max wasteland with muggers prowling to get your Lego sets. Sure there is some crime like any city, but I think the wrong picture is being painted by people. Leicester Square even on Wednesday night will still be fairly busy.

(Totally agree that lugging a box that big is a hassle either way!)

Yeah all it takes is one moped rider and its gone. Police cannot chase them due to do-gooders who value criminals over normal people.

I'm not trying to scare anyone or paint the wrong picture London's a nice city to shop around the main thing is being safe this is a high profile set £650 is a lot of money all it takes Is the wrong people to get that information to organise something no matter if it's the safest place in the world or the most unlawful. But like I said be safe plan your journey go with someone and enjoy your day out

It is a high profile set to those in the know yes.  But what is easier to find, steal and flip on the black market? A £650 lego set or similarly priced phone, tablet, laptop or handbag? I certainly can't see someone on a scooter trying to grab such an unwieldy box.

True I don't know where all this being stole on a moped come from lol can't see that happening but all them items you listed most people will more then likely have on them probably not the laptop or tablet. It wouldn't be that hard for someone to know about the event if they told everyone who's been to the store throughout the week/s leading up to the event. The main thing is being safe if you have to carry that any distance you are vulnerable and it may not be the set they are interested in it could potentially be the opportunity. If you live in London not so bad if you have to travel by train you could be paying x2 sets or fares if you drive you still have congestion and parking restrictions if you park on the outskirts then you will eirther have to carry it and risk damage to the outer box or pay for a taxi to where you parked your car and taxi fares at that time will be stupid not trying to put anyone off going no one's going to come out the shadows on a moped with knife in one hand and the other free to grab your set and ride off into the night. The events at a silly time It's about the overall experience to minimise the hassle and stress and potential damage the box could receive

I may be wrong, but I think the benefits associated to the card will be next to worthless...

There will be no difference whatsoever with this card and regular black VIP card (that everyone will receive with their purchase). You will have 6 (six) weeks to claim for a card on special dedicated website after you complete your purchase. Potential promotions for those card holders limited one and regular one will be exactly the same, give or take I think the same those promose will be worthless. It's their plan to convince customers to purchase MILF for extras you will receive during a year (2018) same/similliar worthless content you are currently receiving for Calendar Coupons 2017 and highly likely only in brand stores.

Card will be fully personalized.

In London this raffle will be nothing more than throwing on people "Force Friday" leftovers. No confirmation for space slug of detention block sets whatsoever.

One Per Customer, 150 boxes to distribute.

Thanks for the clarification! :)

They're going to grab a 15kg, unwieldy box with one hand and be able to maintain control with the other?

No but if your holding a 15kg box other valueables are exposed.

I am trying to fester a healthy consideration for the potential risks involved for people going and logistics of attending. I was thinking of going but I'm traveling back from an away game in Sheffieled on Tuesday. (probably after being smashed 3-0)

Also for any of you going around North west london Spurs are at Wembly so keep that in mind.

If anyone wants to share a taxi / uber back to west london after the launch let me know!

Uber would surely be the LAST form of transport to use when carrying 800 euros worth of product in a conspicuous box and they know where you live. Half of them are probably running ebay scams from their smartphones.
