i think everryone is aware a new UCS MF is coming by all the little hints by lego (shop@home web site page by searching, video with the lego president who laughed, Instagram posts, etc...)

now we are at the point where solid info  about the upcoming USC MF itself should be considered newsworthy.

there were no little hints, the only hint that Lego gave us was the shadowed Millennium Falcon on the UCS Death Star box. nothing else, the story about the search engine giving you hits under UCS Millennium Falcon is a pure BS and it was working both for lego and L.e.p.i.n.

Wonder if it's the same I saw today.

I thought you saw the model in person behind closed doors?

The one I'm referring to is the one floating around cell phones, someone mentioned it earlier. We first heard about the interior I think in a post by someone who said they saw a picture on a phone.

No, the model didn't arrived yet. I saw it on the computer screen. It wasn't floating anywhere except that computer in particular, everyone from LEGO store and beyond knows how this project is important to them and they want to keep it concealed and they are taking this very serious. The access to the room where I saw the model on the screen is limited to just 2 persons. Same with London Bus, but back then I saw the completed model about week or two before the official announcement.

So hypothetically, we take everything at face value.  The new MF releases in September with 8000+ pieces and retails at 800 bucks.  Given how revered the original is and with how tight lipped and serious they are we can assume this will be arguably the greatest set ever released.  Question is: what is the quick flip window on this one going to be?

My thoughts....I doubt LEGO is going to overproduce this set at first, given that they have never released a set at this price point.  I just don't think they know what the demand will be and will error on the conservative side with production at first.

So if it sells out what is the top range for this?  Shipping/fees on this will be steep (would do insurance as well, also I don't keep boxes that large so that's a consideration) so your looking at 1000 in cost alone.  So depending on your margins you would need to hit 1200+ to make it worthwhile.  Now obviously the sky is the limit given the great value of the original but I don't see it hitting even half that mark.  Especially when people know they can just wait for supply to catch up.  I am thinking it would hit the 1400 to 1600 range given an extended OOS spell after initial release.

Thoughts?

There was more than that. There was the interview. There was the quick appearance in the video. There was the photo of TLS screen with "75192 Secret $799.99."

I am assuming that is the actual new UCS Falcon box wrapped in the white paper.  Makes sense.  LEGO is moving to more "cube" like dimensions.  Maybe it saves money or shelf space or shipping costs or whatever.   I think it's great.  I would have hated a duplicate of the 10179 Falcon for many reasons.  I think it would be great for LEGO and their fans to create this "uber" set.  We need some sort of jolt.  We need some buzz.  A HUUUUGE set like this would do it.  I would love to see a "Limited Edition" version.  It would be a  home run regardless of the 10179 and it's future appreciation and/or depreciation.

There doesn't seem to be many users left around voicing concerns over LEGO doing such damage to it's own collectibility - but these continuing events are just sad, sad, sad.

How do you know when the LEGO "bubble" has truly burst??? When there's almost no one left looking to complain.

This is hardly like the 75179 saga. This is a new take on a set released 10 years ago. Why is everything a sky falling on moment?

I only said that it was sad - The 10179 has represented something special, and to many, it may very soon represent little more than a foolish wasted investment.
