Jeff Mack Posted August 18, 2017 Share Posted August 18, 2017 While I am getting closer to releasing a long overdue update to BrickPicker, now is a good time to release some content that I was hoping to release with the updated site. @belljohn has been talking with Ed and I for a very long time and has spent a lot of time in creating a series of Brickvesting videos that he is happy to share on the BrickPicker YouTube Channel. I am hoping to see this expand this into a bunch of different topic series and welcome any of you that are interested in working on some videos to reach out to me and we can work on it. Set reviews, investing tips, set builds, etc. It's not easy to speak for ~15 minutes, but Brook does an amazing job covering this topic. We will be publishing more videos soon from belljohn. We hope you enjoy it. Who knows, maybe soon you will see Ed showcase his amazing words of wisdom in video. That will be a real treat. Noticed a few inconsistencies between what Brook says and what is displayed in the sidebar, and (at least for me) the comparison picture just shows a semi-opaque placeholder box, but the entire 14 mins went by fast and were surprisingly informative. I am going to post the data and photos in a day or two for everyone to see to go along with it. Thanks for watching. Perhaps you can review a list of special editions, either very limited in run # or first series limited editions like 10179 ..... - Smallest Themes. Review small, short term themes like Scooby, Lone Ranger, Spongebob etc. You could do a top ten list of those - Most valuable themes. In general I plan to focus on current releases and use a key feature of the set as link to the past. I have the next 8 shows already planned, but viewer input will certainly sway what I cover. I still have the basics to cover over the next few. First edition releases will be a great topic if the new MF happens to be one. Any ideas about other advertised, yet mass market, first edition/limited editions besides 10179 and 4x4 crawler? Then keep on reading. Have you ever picked up a lego box and thought, wow this is big? Have you ever tried to wrap a lego box and thought, I can’t believe it takes a whole roll of wrapping paper? Of course, kids will always want the set in the biggest box, but adults can also be swayed by a big box. It is a key marketing decision. For the most expensive adult oriented sets, Lego has started to make a few smaller and denser boxes. Why? I don’t know. Some possible reasons are shipping costs, display space, or using less packaging. The last 4 modulars are all about the same piece count and weight, but the box has been shrinking.
