60th Anniversary Theme 2018

Recommended Posts

Reliable source on EB reports a new theme for 2018 with 5 sets to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Lego brick.

Interesting. Let the speculation begin.

I'm guessing rereleases of classic sets but updated a bit. So maybe one Classic Space, a Classic Town, a Classic Castle, etc.

Obvious choices,  Chima Fire Bike 60th Anniv. Edition and what was that set that crazy dude with the stormtrooper avatar used to buy all the time??  Ninjacopters?? something stupid like that.  Guy sure liked Elsa too.  Weirdo...

Didn't that same dude corner the market on these? https://www.target.com/p/lego-174-building-gift-set/-/A-49153007

This......so much this!  I will be happy with any classic space set but the monorail is the swan song of the genre...

Actually the Futuron monorail heralded in the new era of Space.  Regardless, it would be great to see Lego do another even if it meant utilizing existing Lego train tech.

I suspect it will be a re-release similar to the Legends series.

Very true...Classic space was before my childhood so I have a tendency to lump all vintage space themes in as classic space, because we haven't had a truly awesome space theme in decades.

Interesting that we are now going to kind of relive the same sentiments that people had ten years ago around the 50th Anniversary of LEGO:

and: https://gizmodo.com/349929/best-lego-sets-in-history

Those are of course by now nearly 10 years old and lack all the awesome sets that have been released since the 50th Anniversary happened :)
