I recently purchased instructions for a few large MOCs.  I have all of the parts, and I was looking at the rather long build.  Is it easier to pull all of the pieces before I begin (and maybe group them?) or wait till I need a part to go get it?

I am also sorting my collection before I begin these builds and trying to figure out if there is an easy way to set it up my organization system, so I can pull the parts fast.

Anyone with experience please share.

My experience is with Technic but it can be applied to system bricks as well.  Organization is key to being able to find and pull parts quickly.  For technic I have things broken down into major categories,  Pin connectors, Axle connectors, Gears, Suspension /Engine, Thin lift arms, Lift arms.  From there you separate further by design, and or colour.

For system bricks I would do the same.  Start with Tiles, plates, bricks etc as main categories and break it further depending on qty.

As for building, I always get all the parts I need upfront before building and since they were organized to begin with, I keep them organized for the build.  For me, it is the fastest method.
