TRUTH!

anyone have actual field experience with new rewards guidelines?

Yes, I killed it today! I will have to wait untill Friday around 11:00 EST to see how the points post and then Monday to see if $200 Rewards starts processing for 10/2. Then will need a Strategy guide and FAQ sticky written up.

I won't know the final results until around  2 weeks after 1/1/16

Not sure if it's any help but I was at about 4400 points on 9/15 and then the points cleared around 9/17 to push me over 5000 and create a $200 rewards which was issued on a 9/18 email.

I don't know if I was a residual queue or if future $200 rewards can still be generated.

Thanks for taking point Pseudoty :P

My $200 expires 11/16 - in the veteran TRUTHers experience - is there any point in waiting (ie will there be any online promos that TRU may put out based on past history) or should I just buy an exclusive online now with it?  I never see anything above $140 at the SoCal TRUs. so grabbing 2 sets with $200 rewards would "cost" money in the sense of stealing "couponable spending".

i dont think you can spend these online to get the exclusives, though i never tried. the only place that you could get these in store would be flagship stores like times square, dont know of any others...

Sure you can if I am understanding the PP question.  Can you use the $200 reward to buy say a PR for $159 online yes.  You can add additional items say 10 series 14 minifigs to get to the $200 but will still have to pay shipping since you have not spent $19 OOP. So if you went with the UCS TIE at $219 TRU markup you would get it for $19 can pay with discount GC and get free shipping.

Points from yesterday haven't posted yet.

To the other question should you wait depends on what your target sets are.  None of mine are available now except UA HQ so I am waiting. Last year TRU did not do the promo that they had done the previous 2 years where you got another set free with Exclusive purchase.

Pseudoty,

If I am not mistaken, if you use the rewards online you can only use it for one item. You would then miss out on $40 of the rewards ( $200 reward - $160 Parisian Restaurant). However, if you use rewards in store, you can use the $200 on multiple items. I think it has to do with their computer system.

I've been able to purchase exclusives with rewards, but I had to have a reward dollar amount equal to or lower than the one item to purchase online. Otherwise I miss out on using the full reward amount.

Yes, and online you can't use your rewards and a coupon.  They negate each other.

Just an FYI if you use the rewards online and it brings the price down below the free shipping threshold after the rewards code is applied they will charge you for shipping.  I had this happen with a Tumbler last month but the shipping was only $5.99 so no big deal there.

Yes, this is because the rewards are applied to the price of the item and not the purchase total or subtotal.

I am confused but I can add 2 PR to my cart and use 1 $200 Reward and it brings the $319 down to $119 no issues.  I know you can only use one $200 reward per purchase online but you can use multiple in store say to get a Batman LE PS4.

Hmm, maybe because it is the same item (two PR's)? I always have done it where I was trying to purchase two different exclusives and the rewards would only deduct from one item. Maybe having two of the same item is the key to get it to work.

Also, if it arrives all beat up, I believe you cannot return it, as they will not re-issue the reward dollars. I believe you forfeit the reward amount if anything is returned.

Just tried 1 PR and 10 Series 14 I used 1 $200 Reward no issue. $5.99 shipping so you can order 5 more Series 14 for a total of 15 for $14

If you use a reward in store and return in store you do not get it back.  If you use it online and the item is damaged like my tumbler someone put their foot thru the box you can call ship it back and once they verify it was damaged you have to talk to someone in another department that can reissue the reward but it is a pain

Yes it is a pain to get rewards re-issued.  First you need to find someone who can help, then you have to wait at least 2 rewards cycles to have them show up on your account.

I do not use rewards on exclusives online.

I'll have to try order online again with the rewards at some point. I've been unable to the past few times, and have been doing it one item at a time. Grant it, it was a couple of months ago. Thanks Pseudoty.

Oy vey. Let me summarize what I have read:

  • TRU Rewards can be used online
  • Rewards used online will negate any other coupon (rewards are viewed as a coupon by the system)
  • Rewards used online can only be reissued if the item it returned for damage and it may become a long arduous phonecall
  • Rewards may be used on multiple different items ie Set A and Set B
  • If the subtotal is less than the value of rewards then the amount exceeding the subtotal is lost - so don't use $200 rewards to get a $20 set - make sure you spend at least $200 in one go
  • Rewards used in-store cannot be reissued
  • If your (subtotal less rewards) is less than $19 required for free shipping you will be charged for shipping - the goal should be to spend at least $19 over the rewards value

Reading through past threads I have read that it was not a good idea to use Rewards on a set that may no ship (ie questionable stock/EOL) because it may never ship and your rewards will not be reissued or it may be very difficult to have them reissued.  I assume this is still the case.

Thanks Pseudoty on the historical info (that's what I was looking for).  If I recall I guess in the past there was a BOGO 50% - I guess that's how a lot of you got DS "cheap". Since currently Lego seems to fly off the shelves without those promos I doubt that promo will be coming back so I'll probably grab a S1 and something else.  I have 4 of the UA Ocean HQ I got instore for decent prices.

In July I ordered (4) S1 and (2) Sandcrawlers with my 15% CC discount (that was the largest order of exclusives I could find) - all the boxes had either large creases or some small holes.  TRU used crappy outer boxes that had crush ratings of 50 lbs and all the boxes smashed on each other.  I didn't bother with return/exchange because of what I read and the fact TRU needs a DL even for receipted returns - I'm going to save my return options for when I get screwed (ie missing minifigs or something). I would assume to expect whatever you get from TRU shipped to arrive in less than MISB (for those considering ordering exclusives).
