I tried a price match with JL yesterday. Woman was very snooty and just said it's sold out so your not getting a match. How did you convince them? Even if you had evidence of buying at that price they would use the current OOS status to deny you. But you've done well TB!
Villager Chris
I notice that someone is undercutting Amazon's 42% reduction for 70615 Fire Mech Toy. If bought legitimately, how do they do it and still turn a profit? It would have to be bought in at least 60% discount and this has never happened on this set. One-off discounts are possible, but not everybody is a re-seller looking to make money. Some people sell to get rid of things.
John82
JL turned down my price match too because the items were OOS. Last year they price matched several OOS items for me when the disney store had the 50% off sale, and when Asda slashed their prices. Must be tightening up

Probably bought a pallet of them from some little shop that was closing down or overstocked.

The shop assistant I had was a real grumpy one (kept referring to herself as a "partner" as though she was a senior lawyer or accountant at a big firm, was quite funny really, delusional)

If you saw the video by the two girls who had a Lego business and gave up last year, they explain that they can often source stuff dirt cheap. You see people on ebay all the time with multiples of the same set - some are even "valuable customer" enough to post photos of the whole lot and then wonder why their auctions are not working out well! Are they from Northern Island by any chance? I bought one for £25 from someone who got a load of them at auction.

Never happened to me. I rely on lucky shop reductions, online discounts or 3 for 2. In 14 months, I have only seen 2 or 3 probable pricing errors (all Asda), and anything over 50% has been rare. So I usually have to take a leap of faith when I open my wallet. Beware of the sets sold by Amazon sellers with impressive metrics and 'much less than RRP' merchandise. Beware of the sets sold by Amazon sellers with impressive metrics and 'much less than RRP' merchandise. It could be a scam, of course but what if they source from Tesco clearance in their local store or imported from Germany or EIRE, where prices are lower? Relying on online discounts limits your possibilities - most of my cheap stuff from 2017 came from 70% off in-store clearance. Less competition that way too. The same seller is selling online for £6! They must have got them for a pound or less. No chance for me.

Villager Chris
Looking at their metrics, they don't need to do this. A big hitter.

Lego Benito
Thanks for the heads up. Almost went for it but just not sure about it as a set to build and not sure it has investment potential even at that price.
