I've gone in on those, Doctor Strange and three each of Skiff Escape, Carbon-Freezing Chamber and Luke's Speeder. Sub was 3for2 when first released Too early on skiff and landspeeder

Goblin
Personally I think there are/were some pretty good buys today. For example large Elves sets for around £50 each (the price later went up to £79 each), Dr Strange, Buckingham Palace, Eiffel Tower etc. Even Angry Birds Teardown (3 for the price of one RRP) if anyone is into that sort of thing. Interesting that some of the 3 for 2 stuff 'in the sale' went up to RRP by early afternoon.

Guest TabbyBoy
Did any of you check if other retailers price matched Tesco? I bought a few advanced Xmas/birthday presents from John Lewis yesterday in mint boxes and they matched there and then. Not just LEGO, but other toys and baby items ;-) If Tesco run out of what you want, try a price match, it sometimes works!

Last year, I made a lot of 9x orders without a problem. You could probably get away with 7 orders of 3, but you may get a call if you exceed this. Don't worry, they won't ban you - even I wasn't banned! Please note that Tesco struggled to fulfill orders last time and my 99x Volcanoes arrived in 11 different deliveries! Some were boxed and some were bagged, but only 3 were damaged which I parted out. They had limit of 2 on the Porsche and Arcos. Called to ask if they would lift them, said they couldn't, "company policy"

Have tried doing that but always told that they will only match price, not the deal. Also only match if it's still in stock.

Personally I'd buy neither due to QFLLs and overhoarding. Big boxes are just so hard to shift these days and Technic performance is dire. Of course, no problem if buying to keep ;-) Did you call +44-(0)330-123-4950? You occasionally get somebody nice who doesn't care too much about limits and will let the odd one slip. Call again, I did and eventually got my 198x Darth Vaders delivered last year!
kumas
it is a joke, you cant purchase 3+ of the big sets, false advertisment
Guest TabbyBoy
1 minute ago, kumas said: it is a joke, you cant purchase 3+ of the big sets, false advertisment No it's not as you still get the 3rd (cheapest) item free. What's wrong with ordering 2x Porsche/1x Arocs and then 2x Arocs/1x Porsche? Tesco allow multiple orders and you'll only be losing a few quid, not much. That's what I would do if I was buying. You're even within your rights to return what you don't want AFTER the sale and Tesco could issue a refund in your favour.

I think Tesco have had their wrists slapped.
Guest TabbyBoy
Tesco's 3-for-2 sale isn't the best one right now. If you have a Dobbies Garden Centre near you, get your arse down there asap! I've had word that a lot of sets are 75% off and you can buy as much as you want without question, they are clearing space asap for the Summer season. Be quick as the HUKD QFLLs have let the cat out of the bag! I went there to buy some seed potatoes, guess how much I spent on LEGO?
marcinj
So you guys think Porsche and Arocs are good investment long time wise? 2-3 years? Had an eye on the Porsche (already have some Arocs) and I don't know if now is the time to go. ps. You can use forward2me for shipping outside the uk. Used them last 3for2. 30kg parcel was delivered perfect to Poland.

I'm happy with my one of each that I've already built and sold on at cost. Have a look at recent Technic performance and remember to deduct about 20% for fees and packaging, you'll see that there may not be much left. The state of two of the Skiff Escapes I've just picked up echoed this. And this is the reason I'm moving earlier on new sets this time round - they're still in stock in stores, so plenty of time to benefit from the 3-for-2 prices and get battered boxes swapped for minty fresh. Picked up Imperial shuttles last year that had bubble wrap taped to the boxes and they looked like they'd been kicked all the way to the shop
