thebrickdad Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Anyone else planning to be at the opening of the new Leicester Square shop tomorrow? Doors open at 12:00 Possibly even try for a meet-up after people have grabbed the things they came for just to see who managed to get the Lester minifig rather than a parrot.. Quote
Guest TabbyBoy Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I'm in the area today and tomorrow but, will not be popping in. All the crowds, pushing & shoving ain't for me. I'll take a look once it dies down. Quote
Cheese Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 No need to queue and be first through the door since no limited exclusives that are first come first served. If there are any of those type of exclusives available they will be given away today in the preview which is invite only. Like Tabby will pop in after work when it's quieter Quote
Legodrdoom Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Don't know if its just me but i was p*****d off to see that spend over 55 just to get a "chance" of getting the Leicester MF .... I want him to to sit in front of my big ben, Even if he is slightly large ? 1 Quote

thebrickdad Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Yup. It's proving to be a bit of a joke.. Quote
Fenix_2k1 Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 So how long after 12 does the first genuine Lester appear on ebay and how much does it go for? I reckon someone will try and post one within the first hour with a BIN over £50 Quote
Voltron Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 (edited) http://brickset.com/article/24596 Brickset review of new store. Looks good but agree with huw that it is dissapointing that not everyone gets lester, there is a 1 in 4 chance to win him via scratchcards and there's only 275 of him so it is definitely going to go for good money. Furious_george Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 That's what a LEGO store looks like hey? Why is it full of balding men? Where are all the children LOL? 5 Quote
thebrickdad Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Lots and lots of middle aged men and women spending huge amounts of money at full retail. Quote

GiliusThunderhead Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I got there at 20:30 after a day of sight seeing thinking we wouldn't have to queue... no such luck. No sign of PS anywhere in the store (no other notable absences). Plenty of JW and Scooby Doo at RRP. Also a bucket load of the London bus promo for straight up sale (and even though the shelves were full every other person had about 2 in their arms - looks like a good souvenir set for the tourists). They'd already sold out of the winter train set after just one afternoon. WTS marked as new (so not really a surprise) so I expect that to be avaialble again next year. What I couldn't get over though was the number of people with large city sets (town square, HS train) picking them up at RRP.... Quote

Given where its located I expect it to be pretty busy most of the time (not to the point of queuing to get in). Heck they were even advertising hotel delivery. Quote
Cheese Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 They ran out of the Lego retail store exclusive for purchases over £135 just after 8 which annoyed a lot of the latecomers. Lots of them now on eBay and even a couple of the lester minifigures have now appeared. One going for £2k! Madness I tell you. Madness! 1 Quote
