LegoMan1212
I'm about to make a substantial purchase from a local ad that to me seems like a fantastic deal. However, if anyone can take a few minutes to let me know of the things I absolutely need to check for before walking away and handing over my money, please let me know. I don't think the mini-figures in this case are a huge hurdle as there is no way I'll ever know if the right one's are included or not, except for the Dragon. Here are the set numbers 3178, 3179, 3180, 3222, 3366, 3367, 3815, 3818, 3833,4200,4201,4202,4203,4204, 4206,4206,4208,4431,4432,4433,4434,4435,4436,4439,4441,4641,4642,7207,7239,7286,7636,7638, 7639, 7641, 7744, 7747, 7848, 7942, 8402, 9440, 31010, 60001, 60007, 60011, 60017, 60021, 60022, 60057, 70400, 70401, 70402, 70403, 70404, 79001 I welcome any feed back on this and i'm going to hold off on mentioning the price for now, feel free to mention what you would pay for it. ALL USED, no boxes, but instructions exist. Thank you for your time. My kids will love playing with these and I just don't want to be ripped off or missing something of value (like everyone). Legojona
It all relies on the price you paid, but the King's Castle, the Mine and Bikini Bottom Undersea Party are nice sets to have. Most other sets are small ones that have soem nice minifigs and play value. I think it would be good to check if you have all instructions. I would say it's a nice deal is when you pay between $400 and $800 for this.
c_rpg
Just make sure all the minifigures are there. If they are, it is unlikely they took out any other parts on purpose. Some sets, you might be better off selling if your kids don't like playing with them (wind turbine is a high-value one for example).
Ciglione
4204, 60022 and 7747 are interesting as well. But all depends on buy-in and I assume the sets are used?
LegoMan1212
Yes all used. Buy in is within the range that has been mentioned. Thanks for feedback

LegoMan1212
Went over there to at least check it out, the pictures looked fine and it appeared nearly everything was there and they backed it up that way too through communication. Upon inspection though, enough pieces were missing to make me start to feel uneasy after just looking through a handful of the sets. Not a whole lot, but enough for me to pass on the lot at the price we agreed to initially. I offered $300 in the end after reviewing a few models (combine, wind turbine, large fire boat and castle) and noticed glaring pieces missing that you couldn't see from the pictures. Could they have been resold for more, sure, but it would have taken a lot of work to do so and even for the one's I wanted to keep, it just didn't seem worth the hassle. It's too bad, as the collection looked quite amazing laying out everywhere and some of them are much larger than I anticipated, but when someone tells you all pieces are there, they better be there. It's okay to mention X amount of pieces are missing. Why do we need to lie?? Who knows, maybe they honestly couldn't remember after going through them all. Anyway though, I guess I now have this dilemma of a few hundred bucks in my pocket. Did you put them on the spot and ask why the pieces were missing?

Did you put them on the spot and ask why the pieces were missing? Yes, basically explained what I was seeing (I'm an auditor by trade) and that frankly if they wanted to cut the price to $300 I'd be okay with it. And then said that I know they had other interest and that I'm totally fine with them reaching out to them and passing on my offer. I went outside, they discussed it and countered, of which I declined. Very nice people though and its too bad it didn't work out in the end.
