Jeff Mack Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Today, we are happy to report that our second book "The Collectible LEGO Minifigure: Values, Investments, Profits, Fun Facts, Collector Tips" is now available for purchase. This was a fun book to put together since we were able to work with the Lego community to obtain fun photos of Lego minifigures in action. In the coming weeks, we will be announcing winners of the contest that we had when we first introduced that this book will be published. The first review of the book has been published by Huw over at Brickset and he states that "Nevertheless, it is a fascinating book that will appeal particularly to minifigure collectors." Huw Millington and Dr. Dave Watford have always been supporters and friends to our site, even early on when building a solid reputation was difficult. We appreciate everything that they have done for us and their awesome site is what got me back into LEGO collecting. Here are a few screen grabs from the inner pages of the book. Order your copy today!!!! View full blog article 5 Quote

ichiroll Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Congrats! Delivered today via Amazon! Looking forward to checking it out. Quote
Lego Templar Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Normally wouldn't buy a book (outside of the stock market realm) but this seems pretty cool and if it helps the site I'm all for it! Is there a "best place" to buy it? As in helps website directly? Thanks Quote

MrToes16 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Mine came in from Amazon yesterday but it had a big scratch on the front cover. Sent it back for a replacement. From what I did browse while I had it looked really great. Bravo. 1 Quote
Phil B Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Got mine yesterday as well. Wonderful book. Only thing I noticed was a strong off-gassing smell - gave me a headache. Must have been the melted LEPIN bricks you guys had them use as ink Quote
Ed Mack Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 We will announce the winners of the Minifigure Book Photo Contest on November 1st. 4 Quote
Flanagan Bros Inc Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Just got a copy today from Amazon! Admittedly, I was a little skeptical of the cartooney art used with the photos that I'd seen with the previews . . . But it looks fantastic in person! I'm really glad I could be a part of it. Cheers to Ed and Jeff on putting out such a great book! Quote

Cheers to Ed and Jeff on putting out such a great book! I agree with you. The book looks much more attractive in person with the graphics. I was kinda upset at first and complained about it, but it ended up looking clean and creative. What I learned is that it is important for book designers to keep a design continuity from one chapter to the next. We did not have a lot of custom shots to work with in some chapters, so it would have been hard to pull that off with only photos. 2 Quote
longshot Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 First off congrats on the book guys and Im sure to be getting on soon. Quick question though......... The more I get into buying used collections Im beginning to amass a significant number of these little guys. Now the themes Im familiar with its relatively easy to identify those and narrow down what sets they came from, but the sets Im not so familiar with or the older figs from the 80's and 90's Im at a lose to figure out what set these belong to. Is there an all inclusive book that covers all minifigures set by set from the beginning? Not sure where to start with some of these. Thanx for any info and again congrats on the release............ No, nothing that goes set to set. This book lists many of the minifigures, but the information is basic. There are so many minifigures from the early years that are similar, it might blow your mind trying to figure out exactly which set they came from. To be honest, many of the older minifigures are worth very little or less than one would think. Older is not always better unfortunately. Quote

I was envisioning more of a coffee table book style, but what they put out really does look good. I was a bit surprised by the previews, but it looks fantastic in hand. Sometimes you just have to work with what you've got. I was going to photograph some older minifigures, but ours are all beat up, or missing pieces, and most really don't look that impressive in the first place. Outside of the rare, really iconic minifigures, or those from the dawn of some licensed themes (which was really post-2000's anyways) aren't really worth anything. Quote

Flanagan Bros Inc Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I just posted a review on Amazon and I'd encourage others to do the same when they get a copy. A large number of well written and honest reviews are a huge help to niche books like this. 4 Quote
