Got one today...

So tell me if this happens at all Lego stores - My store at Roosevelt Field Mall opens at 11 AM.  Got to Lego store at 10:30 AM today and was second to show up. I hung by the front door to stake out my spot as you would normally do waiting for a store to open. I got there early so I could get in and out quickly to meet up with my wife for a movie.  Around 20 people showed up after me, most about 5 minutes before opening.  There were 2 employees in the shop and when one of them opened the doors at 11 everyone just rushed in, paying no mind to the people that were there lined up first.  Then there was a mad dash to the register and the shelf next to where they put out a few sets.  I was able to get one but about 10 people just pushed their way past me to grab sets and get in line ahead of me.  There was no attempt at all by the employees to make it an orderly experience.

There were also 2 young teenagers whose parents just let them rush in front of everyone.  I'm never gonna tell a kid, especially in a toy store, to follow common decorum.  But what kind of parents just let their kids push past adults lined up like that? One of the kids was clearly buying it for their dad.

That happened to me last year when the GBHQ came out.  I assume they got some feedback about it because this year the Lego store employees handed out tickets to the people who were outside waiting and enforced it at the front counter to make sure the people who arrived early got the sets they wanted.

yeah that sounds much simpler than the chaos we had today.  I took the advice of someone else and submitted my feedback to the store via the link on the receipt.  In the long run it's not that big a deal but if I had my kids with me waiting there I would be pissed if they got pushed out of the way amidst the scramble.

Lego store I was at today said theirs were gone in about 2 hours. Nice initial demand.

I actually spoke with one of the TLG on the phone earlier, she said "we were shocked that it went by so quick, we will be changing the limit of stock from 5 to 2 when we are ready to sell back again" --- Now take this for whatever is worth tho, she added most of these modulars last up to 4 years but "I see this being 2 years max"

So LEGO BS decoded means it will be out longer than the Death Star 10188. Good to know.

I wonder if that's because it is made in China, no seriously.

Well... be happy you got one now. After January 20th they will become alot more expensive.

My local LEGO store said they sold out of the first batch early Sunday on Jan 1st. They get shipments on Wed and Friday's. Called today and they got 6 in but sold out fast. I will be calling first thing Friday to get one held if they are on the truck.

My Lego store sold out on December 30. I guess they did not care that they were to come out on the first or care that people may come on the 1st to get them. I guess we will just save our points for another day

Does anyone know if this set will be 100% exclusive to LEGO only? If the likes of TRU get their grubby hands on it, don't expect much growth, if any. I'll buy just one for my collection in 2018 (I'm having 2017 off!).
