Stud-Flipper Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Do you think a set will ever surpass 10189 Taj Mahal in piece count? It currently sits at the top with 5,922 pieces. Essentially the question is; will Lego ever make a 6,000+ piece set, and if so, what do you think that set will be? Quote
dcdfan Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 No idea what but I would say absolutely given the current trend. 1 Quote
Stud-Flipper Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 I don't think it will be the upcoming Death Star that breaks the record though. I'm guessing it comes in somewhere at about 5,500 pieces if the $500 price tag is correct. 1 Quote
siddji Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I really doubt. But it doesn't surprise me that Lego would launch a bigger set with a higher price point. Quote
diablo2112 Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) I think Lego already has. 42055 (BWE) fits so perfectly with the B-model (aggregate processing plant), perhaps the best A- and B-model combo that Lego has ever released, certainly the most complimentary that should be built and displayed as a single piece. I know many, many AFOL buddies that have purchased 2 of these (including myself). Given that 42055 is a 3925 piece kit, this puts the total parts count at about 7900. IMHO, this is the largest Lego set released, and Lego gave us the option of purchasing it in 2 separate chunks. Edited August 4, 2016 by diablo2112 Quote

Fairness dictates that it should be 1 set or 1 proper lego build set to dethrone the Taj?I don't have the Taj personally as I come out of my dark ages a bit late.Anyway on another note, I believe that Lego will produce a set that will surpassed the Taj in piece count but I believe it might be plenty of small pieces or even techic connectors that take the win. How long before that appear will remains to be seen but guessing in the next 2 years? Quote
