brickelements Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 My son is still too young (still duplo building). I have no other children. Just too early for me as explained. 2 Quote
exciter1 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 I can confirm this set can be added for purchase. However I did not buy. (All of the below commentary is opinion only) My reasoning is simple. 371.xx after tax risking investment dollars for minimal $$$ gains when flipping. The huge box is a risky shipment. Can be easily damaged during transit causing a higher rate of returns. Will it make money sure...but 40-50.00 is not worth the risk of 371.00 dollars in my strategy book. I like the set. I plan on owning a few. But not this early in the cycle. Holding out for 20% off. 2 Quote
oneknightr Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 I bought one, my first one. Will try to flip it locally for a few bucks with minimal effort. I'm guessing I can easily flip for $420 which means about $40 cash profit, plus the $35 VIP points, and the free Christmas Buildup set. If I can't flip it, it'll be the one I keep for ourselves to build over the holidays. 1 Quote

jgschmieg3 Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 What is minimal in your opinion? I made $100 on one this week. Quote
longshot Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Just got one as well............ Thats two. Should make for an easy flip as Christmas nears, double points plus advent is a bonus. Quote

brickelements Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 While $100 is nothing to sneeze at what is being risked upfront to obtain it. Nearly 3.71-1 risk versus reward is too much for me. I prefer 2-1 or less personally. I don't have any local sales channels I can rely on for quick non-shipping flips. Again this is just my opinion. Kudos for those that get the returns. Quote

HandyHand Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Pffff, lucky Americans with your low taxes. Compared to Europe where we pay 20% (UK, Germany for example) or 21% (The Netherlands) sales tax! Quote

Compared to Europe where we pay 20% (UK, Germany for example) or 21% (The Netherlands) sales tax! Let me dust off an old topic here: your taxes are at least built in to the price. So EUR350 has 21% tax built in, so that's EUR289 before tax, which is currently 323USD. So there's 26 USD in price difference based on pre-tax prices. Post tax, some of us in the US have no sales tax, but others have up to 13%. 13% tax in the US makes the total price higher than your EUR350. On average, the price almost evens out if you figure in a fairly common tax rate in the US (7-8%). 2 Quote
Serejai Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Are people actually having any luck moving these locally? I live in a pretty large city and there has only been one listing on Craigslist and it's been up for a month now and hasn't sold (asking price of $430). 1 Quote

I haven't seen any ads on CL for this around here and I live in a large city as well. BrickLink has several listings up but I'm not sure how much they're being sold. I can tell you based on my experience, they do sell on eBay with high demand but beware of the fees. Quote

I don't know about local sales, but this is doing good on Bricklink in terms of supply/demand. The markup is about 50€ minus 20€ fees leaves about 30€ which is not that much for such a high risk item. I can see this going to 450€ briefly if stock runs out around the holidays considering the fact that there are just not that much items available, but there is plenty of demand. Quote
fourkidsbuilding Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Just grabbed one! Thanks for the heads-up fellow brickpickers! Love this site... Quote
