I play it too (also on WiiU). I still haven't bought any expansion packs though. Reading about the ultra low prices in the US in this thread keeps from spending 12Euro for just a fun pack. Also the reason I don't see anyone making money investing in dimensions here in the Netherlands/Europe

Do you have any expansions @Haay ? If so; did you ever find a good deal on them? Do enjoy them as much as the original game?

I got the Simpsons Level pack when Bart Smit priced down all their Dimensions (not only the starter packs!) with €20. While the Fun Packs (priced at €0) were not delivered, the Level Packs priced erroneously at €12,99 were actually delivered! Too bad all level packs on my wish list were already gone, so I only managed to grab the Simpsons Level pack for that price.

Enjoyed the extra Simpsons level and the skills of Homer are useful sometimes in the main game. :)

My son got the Portal 2 level pack from Sinterklaas last year. He enjoyed that level pack a lot too.

Still working my way through the main story, and after I've finished that I will explore the connected Open Worlds.

Hi Guys

So what do you guys think of the Dimensions packs long term?  I know that ones like the Dr Who could be bundled with the main Who set when its done but is anyone here buying sets for long term investment?   I have been picking them up here and there on sale only, I am thinking of collecting a couple of each teampack/fun/level pack to have the complete set to sell down the road, anyone doing anything similar?    Also do you see them retiring sets or just having them all out on the shelves, if they retired sets would it have an effect on the game play?

Thanks

Personally..I plan on buying all the sets/packs/etc. my girlfriend and I enjoy playing the game so that's the main reason. Ultimately (like any game) it will come to an end and honestly doubt it will have much value long term. Now once they stop making the first wave of them I can see the value of those going up (only while game is in production) keep in mind by 2018 no matter how big this game gets the discs won't work on the next Dimensions pad. Now if they release characters that ARE NOT in any other sets I could see those being worth some money in the future but whose to say they won't release an A team set or ET gremlins etc.

I just don't see the value of investing in it personally..if you can get packs for 2-3 dollars maybe pull the trigger only way I would (80%+ off)

I think part of what hurts the investment potential of DImensions is that there are a ZILLION of the packs out there. So many stores sold them, and people that buy them to use, when they get bored, will sell them used very cheaply.

I agree. These are in a lot of places where Legos usually aren't sold, i.e.: Khols.com and Microsoft.com.
Also, gamers are buying them and giving away the Legos, they just want the discs. There's going to be a glut. Only the most unique minifigs may have value, and the most useless (unpopular). If you play the game you'll have a better understanding of which those are.
But at the end of the day, I think it'll be like the Lego minifig watches or Lego books with unique figs. But the non-Lego part is even more useless.
Also The game play is not one that will harvest a cult following like Zelda or Final Fantasy. If it was more RPG like, maybe. But it's easily redundant and forgettable.

I'd say that is a big YES. Who doesn't want an exclusive Hogwarts?

According to the press release for Series 2 Dimensions "...Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the highly anticipated theatrical release, still to come later this year. The LEGO DIMENSIONS packs will be the exclusive construction toy offering this holiday for the exciting expansion of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World."

So we won't get any more Fantastic Beasts sets this year, at least. They could surprise us with some new Harry Potter, though I wonder if the new book/play/script is enough to excite interest in more Lego models from the franchise.

It's interesting because Barnes and Noble at least has gone big with Harry Potter displays again for the new short story thing. In hindsight it seems like the last run of HP sets were finishing just as Lego really boomed the last 4 years. I'm sure they would still be popular.

Time may be coming to sell my 4842 and 4867s.

I would personally not be to worried about 4867 as all of the castles were unique and some collectors will have personal favorites so a remake would not dent the value too much.

Not a fan of Dimensions game and not a big minifigure collector but I do have to give credit to Lego for going for it with Dimensions. Their list of upcoming properties is impressive. Who doesn't want a Gizmo or Chunk minifigure?

I was thinking the exact same thing a week or two ago. Now, did I dream they were making a Smurf minifigure?

I can't speak to Dimensions, or TLG for that matter, but I saw some really cool Smurf minifigs with custom head molds made by the MOCer I met at BrickWorld.

All of those minifig heads were custom molded and made by the design team that made this epic Smurf Village.
