LEGO Dimensions

Hey you guys!  Sloth!

I've already gotten every single Dimensions pack up to this point, no reason not to continue.

Personally, HP doesn't excite me.  Neither does Adventure Time.  Never was into either of those.  The 80s franchises are pretty awesome tho - Mr. T, Gremlins, Goonies, E.T., Sonic.  That's really cool.

I'm also psyched about Teen Titans Go!  Being added!  I love the Beast Boy line in that trailer - "I'm the Fantastic Beast ..." and then the Fantastic Beast character grabbing him.  Fun stuff.  I wouldn't worry about Raven not appearing.  I'm willing to bet the farm she'll be in the game, they just don't want to reveal *everything* in the trailer.  They've got to have some surprises for later, too.

IPlus I just do not see too many people who get introduced to Dimensions via BttF feel the need to collect all Dimensions characters from Chima & Ninjago :dontknow:

I agree with that.  Notice how much heavier they are leaning on IPs rather than their internal IPs this time around.  That's where I think they'll win.  I've heard people say they should add Nexo Knights or Classic Space, but honestly, I think those won't do them any good.  "Regular" people love the external IPs, and I think the appeal to that is the same appeal that made The LEGO Movie successful - let's mix all these different worlds together and have some fun.  Where else can you see Harley Queen met Harry Potter?

@Lego Templar

I agree with you. Given Lego's history of making additional figs once a "mold is made" I foresee a Disney themed Dimensions game that uses all the figs from the recent Series 16 CMF. That is assuming that Disney allows LEGO to have the license away from Infinity.
Hmmmmmm.......

I like your positive attitude

I see your points, my only concern is LEGO becoming the last one standing in a dying trend.  Even Skylanders people are trying new ways to get out of the TtL and they are supposed to be the pioneer :sarcastichand:

Plus I just do not see too many people who get introduced to Dimensions via BttF feel the need to collect all Dimensions characters from Chima & Ninjago :dontknow:

Yeah tallest midget? Biggest fish in a small pond? I see the concern for that but one thing trumps all this...Money. The reason I brought up one of my friends is that was an extra 89.99 and 29.99 towards the "sales". Another friend bought it on my advise and owns half of everything released. It all comes down to money. If they make lots of it guess what dimensions 3-4-5-3938 will be released. Like Star Wars I hate the idea of bloating the brand with new movies every year...but guess what...I'm going to go see them and so will you and that makes them money to keep doing it...lol vicious circle.

Whether you have parents buying packs for their kids..adults who love the game or just the Lego guy who wants the mini figures...it's not just customer A buying it's A-Z which not many brands have. Sales is all that matters and I think if they keep this up they will crush it! Maybe someone is a die hard HP fan and will just buy the team pack once again that is an extra sale without just "hey buy the starter pack and alllll these extra things".

Dimensions hasn't even been out a year yet and is already making people throw in the towel! Where will be next year?

So who is that guy with Superman tank top?  The one with Batman voice over "What took you so long?"

I....I...I just don't know you anymore.

That's Sloth, from Goonies.  Only one of the best films from the mid-80s ever.  Seriously, you owe it to yourself to watch the movie if you haven't seen it.  Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Anne Ramsey, Jonathan Ke Quan (Short Round from Temple of Doom).  There are so many great lines from that movie.  So many great sequences.

And my point is proven! DR didn't even know who he was so he may not buy that pack. But that is a Cult classic! People may just buy whatever pack he is in to add to their "I love everything from the 80s collection" also Mr T..E.T gremlins etc. that's extra sales that didn't even take place for the game itself. The game is secondary. The IP mixed with Lego is the steak! The game itself is A1 sauce...

(yeah I add it to every steak lol)

NO ONE is going to buy sky landers without the pad thing but you better believe people will buy these level packs and team packs without buying the actually game. With each new IP you just added someone to "the game" and in Theory it should just keep getting bigger and bigger.

I watched all those and the kiddie movies.  Well, Gremlins and Ghostbusters were released 32 years ago, so I was 10'ish.  I remember going to a Gremlins and European Vacation double-feature matinee with my sister.

Thing is, those packs are small potatoes compared to the whole line of series 2 Skylanders, pads and all.

So while multibillion company like LEGO is able to extract $20 + $90 from a single family, Skylanders extracted $60 pad+($10 x number of packs) from each family EVERY YEAR

You're missing my point. 10-30 dollars adds up when it's millions of people. Of course there will be even more buying the full game and extras. Only a few of us have bought ALL the packs (we are just sick people) but that's the appeal to the game. You don't go to the super market and leave with everything in the store you PICK AND CHOOSE what you want. That's the beauty of the game..multi ways of playing or buying. If they release hard numbers I think your case will rest lol...

Time will tell. The game isn't even a year old and has gained traction. I honestly thought it would die out after the first wave...go on Legos FB page look how many likes/shares within the hour...dimensions isn't going anywhere any time soon and if they keep releasing stuff like in that 2 minute trailer they will be crowned King of TTL and will have a huge following!

Will those sales be able to sustain the R&D and licensing fees related to the characters over time? Will they make the projected revenue out of Dimensions?  Those are what I am interested to know.  I always make jokes about Di$ney, but they know how to make tons of $.  When they threw in the towel, people should heed, IMHO.

Blockbusters was the king of movie rental, but where the heck is it now?

Finally, It's getting lively in here. I was getting bored, seemed like just Alpine and I have been posting in Here the last three months.

I don't have the game, but I've been grabbing them when ever they went on heavy discount. Or on sale at GameStop, in order to get an iron man poly.

I had seriously considered parting them out, but now I'm definitely glad I held on to back to the future and all the unique fun packs.

Hopefully this will be greater then the first wave of micro fighters. People hated them, now regret they didn't grab them when they were plentiful.

Well, I do encourage you to watch The Goonies.  It's a very fun movie.  E.T., I was never a huge fan, but it's worth seeing.  We just watched it with the kids recently.  Please tell me you've seen Close Encounters?  It's an acquired taste, but I can't turn it off when it's on.

I've noticed that the price of fun packs have dropped to around $11 at all the major retailers. $24.99 for level packs. Do you think that's a permanent price correction, or will wave 2 start at $14.99?

I'm pretty sure Lego cost is under a dollar package and all. Sell to retail at 5 dollars I think fun packs should be 10 dollars. Team packs 15 and level packs 20.

The $11.99 price point for Fun Packs was a permanent reduction a few months ago. The new Fun Packs are up for preorder at Amazon for $11.99, and I also read a confirmation from a GameStop manager somewhere (I think Reddit) that the new Fun Packs are $11.99 on their upcoming price sheet.

It has been a long time since I saw Close Encounters, IIRC it was ok.  That melody is an ear worm though :D

I tried to watch ET recently and fell asleep midway, just like the 1st time so many years ago :D:D:D
