It it was 900% larger I'd be getting $18 back not $20. 1000% larger will be a 22% return. 900% increase is a 20% return. 10x larger is 20%, but not 1000% larger. 1800/2 is an additional 900% because you already receive the 2%. It is analogous to the difference between 25% off (say $75 vs $100) and an item being 33% more expensive (say $75 vs $100) and it really depends on your point of reference.
