Worth it to give your local store a call.  They had a spot available, and I was able to sign up.

I called first store and they said only by invitation, called second, she didn't know what I was talking about but took my name and number and said that she'll call me back. Just got the call and I'm invited

Yeah, about that....

I thought I was being lucky, but it turns out I was already on the guest list.  So, while I was thinking I got lucky getting on the list, they were just confirming my my attendance.  Confirmed by the store when I picked up my invitation.

The Space Slug set is only available if you receive an invitation to the VIP event. Each store only has about 28 slots and they've likely been filled already.

The new release might be the new Minecraft The Village exclusive.

Jeff and I were lucky to get a few invites from BLOCKS Magazine.  The store manager in Cherry Hill was nice enough to give me a second invite for my wife.

Here's the real May 4th offer:

Edit to add:  Another poster on Eurobricks as said they've seen a picture of the set, and that it's small - around 150 pieces.  They also mentioned the scale to be similar to that of an Advent Calendar MF.

Here's an offer for all Australian fans of Lego...

NOTHING!

Haha! The tyranny of distance is frustrating not to mention having no flagship stores. Oh well! Not the end of the world!

Enjoy your respective events, gang :D

i like that store.   the mgr recently sent me a thank you email (response to my completed survey) and saved an invite.  i'll be taking both kids while mom shops elsewhere that morning.

So the good news is: our local store said they had some extra invitations, they will put one aside for me, but I have to come pick it up so I have it in hand for the event.

The dilemma: my store is about 1 hour away, I have to weigh out if it is worth the 2 hour drive n tolls just to pick up the invite......

Thanks to all of you! Just called my store and got my wife on the list for that day since I can't go. Seriously, thank you all for sharing the information!

If I got my wife on that list, I'd be in for a lot of trouble ..... ;-)

With May the 4th coming up, what's everyone going to target?

I personally have my list.  Last year, May the 4th was kinda weak at LEGO Shop at Home, with only a few good deals.  In fact, I think everyone was expecting half off death stars, and I think the only things going were some minor discounts on Droid Gunships, MTT's, and AT-TE's..   Target had by far the best deals.  I stocked up on  at-at's, a couple ISD's, and quite a few cantinas that were at some of the lowest prices I saw throughout the year.

So, that leaves this year.  Personally, my list this year is two exclusives at shop at home.  Then if Target has a decent deal, i'm "targeting" Shuttle Tydirums, Jedi Duels, First Order Transporters, and First Order Tie's.  Like last year, the prices have dropped on many of these sets. Many are sitting at 10 to 20.00 cheaper than RRP, which means, if target sweetens the deal with another 10.00 off if you spend X amount, it will be worth grabbing and holding them, because I think many of those will retire by January.  I'll probably mix in a rey's speederbike, if needed to get over the price point to get the deal.

I asked permission before I called, if that's what you meant. Honestly she's more of an impulse buyer than me, so it will probably cost me more to send her. But, also more Lego!

I have a lot of work ahead of me to turn the missus into someone who would go to a LEGO SW fan event for fun.

(1) She'd need to become more interested in SW (she does watch the movies with us... so that's partly done)

(2) She recently started complaining about the amount of LEGO we have - little does she know I have about 20 sets waiting for our kids to build ....

(3) She's not convinced adults should even be touching LEGO (though she can be swayed provided the setup looks really professional - our Winter Village build didn't get any comments) - I'm hoping to get her to build something with us over the summer, but my hopes are dim. Perhaps if everyone sits at the table with their own set and we have one for her too, that might do the trick (I have a Birds set and a NYC skyline earmarked for that purpose)

(4) Shopping for LEGO is not something she'd have patience for.

Kudos to all of you who either managed to convert your S.O., or were clever enough to pick someone who already had an interest in LEGO to begin with. LEGO wasn't on my radar when we started dating, and has only slowly crept back into my life over the last 5 years. So I wasn't even aware I had to vet her on her LEGO likes :)

She doesn't like building and isn't a huge fan, though she's impressed with some of the finished products (the ones you would expect). She also feels the same about the amount we now have, though the weekly Amazon payments and PayPal transfers keep her happy on that front :) . She is honestly going because she knows how happy it will make me and I can't go. I'm a lucky man.

Has anyone seen what might be on sale? I feel like I missed any info about that.

It will be like last year - a lot of watches, clocks, and the fluff that if you give to kids, it will rarely get played with and sit at the bottom of the back corner of a shelf collecting dust..

I have my doubts you will see anything really good on sale.  I remember all the airtime we wasted last year speculating that things like death stars, and xwings would get discounted.  Nothing like that happened. It was like a giant balloon of dissapointment popping at 12:00 am on May the 4th.  I expect the same this year, HOWEVER, it's still a great day to buy.  I always consider it the best day of the year to pick up star wars stuff, because other sites will have the really good deals.
