mattmerola
I thought the whole lineup should have been called juniors.....was excited when I heard, then super disappointed in just how juvenile they are...weakest pirates ever IMO
Alpinemaps
buy one. Build one. They're better than you think. (brick bounty). I bricklinked a bunch of blue pieces and did a conversion on mine. Pictures? Curious to see what changes you made. What sort of conversation.
banshee3
Sure. It probably fits better in a moc thread, but I'll post some links. (shows the sails paper version, I'm still gesso-ing the fabric for cloth versions) forgive I ran out of blue arches, so a couple are still red. There are a couple pieces I might change. such as swapping brown arches back in for the brown palisade bricks (in lieu of the red arches over the cabin doors). Maybe dark blue 1x2 slopes to top the inverted arches instead of the regular blue. Anyway. I'm rambling. Enjoy.
banshee3
Just as a follow up, I finished the cloth sails. I still haven't figured out how to get as deep of a color onto the fabric yet as paper. The Imperial flagships escort. Maybe we should name her the "Brick Picker" because she can run a pick on an attacking pirate vessel.
Deadfraggle
Thanks for posting Banshee3, It's always nice to see members get enjoyment from building sets as much as selling. I'm actually in the middle of building my Brick Bounty right now. I was able to pick up a spare set of the sails included with this set fairly cheap off BL. I'm placing an order this weekend for two additional hull pieces, and extra mast assembly, several additional cannons and the necessary pieces to complete the side, interior and rails of the ship. I'm hoping to convert the standard BB into a triple masted 8 gun pirate schooner. I was still in the dark ages when the Imperial Flagship was released and can't bring myself to pay the current prices. If my conversion of the pirate BB goes off well, I think I'll make a sister Imperial version as you have. At probably $150 total investment, I can live with a poor man's version of the Imperial Flagship. rjpeterson82
Is anyone else missing a tall 1 x 5 white pillar from the Soldier's Outpost set? Mine only came with 3, not 4 and had an extra 1 x 4 white piece.
TheOrcKing
Here is a Brickset review on 70411 Treasure Island.
mike1985
I recently purchased the Brick Bounty and built it today. Due to recent scathing reviews about just how inadequate people thought it was I was hesitant during the purchase but decided to go ahead anyways because the very worst that could happen was that I would end up with ship pieces to build my own future MOC. I bought the ship for 94.99 at my local Target through price match and the Target card 5% off.I have to say I am thorougly impressed with the ship. Not only is it good on display but it has that certain ambiance from the original Pirate line from the early 90s which brought me back to a delightful period of my childhood. It also is chalk full of specialty pieces from the treasure ship, chains, traditional Pirate weaponry, a small blue row boat, and the good old good guy vs bad guy Pirates.I definately recommend this purchase to everyone who enjoys ship building and also the traditional Pirates from times past. I am now going to buy the other sets and set them all up together as I know with the upcoming release of the new POTC movie that more Pirates themes are coming our way. I also am going to be purchasing another Brick Bounty to add to the ship and create an even larger Brick Bounty. I will be extending the ship with the pieces and creating a second story to the original bow of the ship. Also will add a third mast. I think I may even try to mirror the Imperial Flag Ship portion of the build with the decking in hopes of creating the 'Enemy Ship' for the Imperial Flag Ship being that all the pieces are red themed with the skull and cross bones sails.Once I do this I will be sure to post pictures. All and all - I highly recommend this line as it is a nice addition to any ones personal collection. As far as investment purposes I dont really think it will do anything on the market. Who cares though right? We all need those lines that are purely for our own LEGO collections.Cheers! baldilocks
What is peoples thoughts on the Brick Bounty as an investment.I know it just came out, I am talking about closer to EOL.Is it too poorly designed, too much of a kids set?Or do all ships do well no matter what?I would appreciate any insight on this. I'd say that not all ships are a good investment. If you can get it on discount it might be a good flip at around Xmas time. Long-term I don't think it'll go up in value too much. Then again it could be like the King's Castle, which has actually appreciated not too badly since it was discontinued. This set, however, is far from EOL as it has only been around for less than 6 months.
2x4
If you haven't picked up your chess set (I know they're not the best) they are now $10 off (roughly) on LEGO Shop at Home

Guest
Seems strange to me too so I picked up a couple on a hedge. Always good to get a discount and earn vip
exciter1
So, do we believe these are done at retail? Is the Pirates theme pretty much a TRU and S@H online exclusive until they disappear?
redghostx
So, do we believe these are done at retail? Is the Pirates theme pretty much a TRU and LEGO Shop at Home online exclusive until they disappear?I still see them at Target, Kmart, and a few Walmart but not the entire line.

Is the Pirates theme pretty much a TRU and S@H online exclusive until they disappear? My Walmart already clearenced theirs out while Target has most of the sets stocked presently (including Brick Bounty) but in an area where they have been putting lately all the odd stuff without a place among the main LEGO aisle items. lazuli16
So, do we believe these are done at retail? Is the Pirates theme pretty much a TRU and LEGO Shop at Home online exclusive until they disappear?I haven't seen them at Target or Walmart. Brick Bounty is "call to check availability" on LEGO Shop at Home, but none of the other pirate sets are. As other's reported my lego store has a sale on the chess set. If you spend over $50 you can buy the chess set at 50% off. I don't think the market is there for pirates. I wouldn't be surprised if this line was on its way out. Val-E
This range has Lone Ranger 2 written all over it. What can make it a good investment? 50% off and retirement this year for rarity value.
Huskers1236
This is what happens when Lego half asses an entire line that already needed to be excellent to get people interested in it again. Had they come out with an innovative ship like Imperial Frigate(but smaller obviously) and nice outpost buildings, these would have been gobbled up. But they sucked worse than the last Pirates line and nobody wanted them. You hear me Lego? Heck, maybe pirate stuff is done for good in the toy realm. PotC ships were amazing and they suffered at retail as well.

PotC ships were amazing and they suffered at retail as well. It needed to be excellent for adults to be impressed, but i'm sure that's not who the line was designed for.It was for kids who have no idea what an Imperial Frigate is, or how lame this pirate ship is compared to that. That being said, the pirate ship was almost NEVER on retail shelves around me, so i always assumed the line was doing fairly well with its target customers. 2x4
At my local target these sets were on and off the shelves. At TRU, they seemed ever present. I think the immediate markup kept them sitting there and relatively savvy shoppers went elsewhere. But the chess set is clearly headed out... The rest, who knows? Castle only got one wave this last pass right? I only have one brick bounty, maybe I better scrounge up a coupon and go pick up another? Just in case. Also just realized the sets were not included in the last lego catalog. But then, neither was scooby doo???

Crustybeaver
This range has Lone Ranger 2 written all over it. What can make it a good investment? 50% off and retirement this year for rarity value. With Christmas on the horizon and a pending retirement for Brick Bounty this won't need a 50% reduction to be a big winner. I'm picking these up at 20% discount and will be surprised if they aren't hitting double RRP in the coming months.
