Migration Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think I've been spoiled by the POTC ships and the Imperial Flagship. This line does nothing for me. I guess my own expectations are to blame, I would like to have seen some more "grown up" sets. Quote
joch29 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 yea.. I'm disappointed as well... hopefully there will be other sets Quote
Huskers1236 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 These are terrible. They made better Pirates sets 3 decades ago. I don't like to be condescending of Lego sets, but I don't like these at all. Why can't the soldier faction ever get a decent fort to defend? The ship? Just about an exact copy of the last ship, sails and all. Quote
Stevenplays Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Won't be purchasing the ship... looks like another $100 saved for the Sea Cow... a proper ship. Atleast in comparison to this ship. Edited September 15, 2014 by Stevenplays Quote
Darth_Raichu Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Those sets look ... minimalistic. Quote
Migration Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I am, however, intrigued by the mini firing canons. Those look like fun. Quote
trekgate502 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I long for Queen Ann and country. :) Quote
California92563 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Man wtf I'm seriously disappointed haha, I was extremely excited for the new pirates line but these pics seriously tanked it for me lol. the only thing I ll debate getting is the pirate ship since I didn't get brickbeards bounty but like others have said I guess I'm just spoiled from having a great ship like the imperial flagship. :p Quote
waddamon Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think i will just follow through and buy all the pirates from 89-92. Seems to be head and shoulders above this stuff. Quote

Same here the boxes alone are cooler than the new sets lol Edited September 15, 2014 by California92563 1 Quote
rastascoob Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The soldier's fort will be a big winner because there is a girl with a sword. Quote
vincevaughn Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Not enough blue coats!....but yeah....disappointing but somehow I don't think LEGO had AFOL's in mind for this... Quote
TheOrcKing Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 New picsDefinitely placeholder images. I'll just wait for real pictures of the physical boxes to pop up before passing judgment. Still thanks for posting, TheDarkness. Quote
inversion Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I know that these are preliminary pictures, but they seriously remind me of the Hobbit sets. And that's not a praise. Quote
Locutus001 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I hope that these won't be the final sets... All in all (even if design on the covers is not what it will be) the are too minimalistic. The Pirate Ship is... well... disappointing. Quote

biniou Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Ages: 5-12 Seriously ? These sets look like 5-8. How disappointing... Quote
Ronda Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Well... I don't have any ship so I'll definitely buy this one. Other sets are boring. Quote
Locutus001 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I guess that if those are really the only pirate sets then the Pirates of the C. sets will do well next year. Especially Black Pearl, Queen Anns and the not PotC Set Imperial Flagship. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Despite the letdown from the name that won the official ReBrick "Name that Ship" contest, I am curious and hoping The Brick Bounty will be a nice surprise by comparison with what we have seen here so far. And just "Pirate Ship" as a set name seems unimaginative honestly. Quote
junkrigger Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) I prefer the old style rigging to that on the new ships, especially the foresail, the old versions with rigging "string" going from stem to stern was far superior aesthetically and more true to a real ships rigging. Caribbean Clipper is my favorite of all time, then Original Imperial flagship, Black Seas Barracuda, then newer Imperial Flagship-which ranks lower just because of its new style rigging, which I did change out. But it would be awesome if we see some retro imperial soldiers, bluecoats, but unlikely. There have been so many awesome ships over the years its almost impossible for lego to outdo the earlier versions. The sea cow is awesome as its rigging reminds me of the Maltese Falcon, the biggest fanciest most expensive sailing vessel ever conceived, with unstayed masts and no running rigging of any kind. Exactly, just like the Castle reboot last year. This is aimed at roping in the younger set - somewhere between Juniors and System. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Quote
rcdb1984 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Isn't it possible like with every theme, there's an exclusive set that hasn't been announced and might be a big surprise. This set seems like something WM, TRU, Target and the local store will have in stock. After having a name the ship contest and reintroducing the pirates theme, you would think there might be some more going on. Same thing happened with the lego movie when those 4 sets came out later. I really hope so. I actually like the new Pirate sets, although more for my 6yo son than me. One great set for me would be awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Are you saying that Lego may be targeting kids with the new Pirates line? Why would a toy company do such a thing?
