steveviscious89 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Pirates were definitely my favorite theme when I was younger. Problem is, in my opinion, there hasn't been a good line of pirate sets since the early 90's. I don't really count the POC theme because it's licensed and not entirely original. I'm talking about an original Pirates theme reboot. I miss those days and I think they could really do well because the City theme seems to be over-saturating the market right now. It might provide some more variety. Quote
icephoenix181 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Pirates vs. Ninjas Would cut into the Ninjago though. But after Ninjago is over maybe. Quote
Darth Lego Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I totally agree. The Pirate theme really needs a boost to get it back to what it was like in the early 90's. The thing is Lego would need to cut another theme. I wonder which theme it would be? Quote
CrazyIvan Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Yes, another "me 2" post... but I agree. I can tell you I was excited to see that one of the upcoming Hobbit or LOTR sets was a ship! So, seeing your post made me realize I like the ships. I missed out on collecting them when they came out, and I am not willing to spend the money to pay for them today... but from here on out I will be buying at least 1 of any decent sized ship set that is produced. stephen_rockefeller Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 All y'all are in luck with this.......Jake and the Neverland pirates duplo theme is coming this spring!! ;) Quote
cvail8 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I'm guessing as long as they keep making Pirates of the Carribbean movies, we aren't going to see any Pirates theme... so only another 20 years or so! Quote
Rich B Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I agree! I loved the pirate sets in the 90s, I would love to see the Pirate theme make a huge come back. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Nobody liked the 2009 pirates?I know of them. Sorry, those ones just didn't really stick in my head quite so much. Quote
redeemed763 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 They were only out for 6 months and flopped pretty bad I heard. Personally, I am glad they are coming out with a new pirates because that may be the only way we get anything from the pirate theme at all anymore. Quote
Teeird Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Yo-ho-ho and bottle of LEGO! That a Gangplank reference? Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 That a Gangplank reference? It was just a pun off the ol' classic pirate phrase. You know, "Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!" Are you referring to the character from League of Legends? Quote
Rich B Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I would even take a reboot of the Vikings theme if they didn't do a reboot of Pirates. Pirates are still my favorite between these 2, but I loved the Vikings theme as well! Quote

Rich B Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 HELL YEAH! VIKINGS RULE!!!! I agree!! It's one of those awesome themes that are never talked about..........ahhhh the more I think about it the more I want MORE VIKINGS!!!! Quote
TheOrcKing Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 HELL YEAH! VIKINGS RULE!!!!I agree!! It's one of those awesome themes that are never talked about..........ahhhh the more I think about it the more I want MORE VIKINGS!!!!It may cost a bit but one of these days I'm planning on buying a complete collection of every Vikings set that LEGO did! Since they did the entire theme as a UK exclusive originally, there is a collectible aspect to them besides being really cool. Plus, THEY HAD FREAKIN' DRAGONS!! Quote

Considering your avatar is "Corporate Mundo", that was a "well, duh!" moment, wasn't it? I still haven't had a chance to play the game yet although I really want to. Always thought the artwork was great anyway and Dr. Mundo has been one of my favs since I saw the crazy bastard! Ha ha! Plus his abilities sound really good. Quote
Blackjack Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 They will never be able to bring back the simplistic charm that the 90's had. :/ My only pirates set that I ever had was the 2001 Red Beard Runner, which I picked up at a thrift store for $3. I don't remember there being any missing pieces, and it was a big awsome set when it was finished! Quote
kerrmando Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I think that a Pirate Reboot is a must need! Imperial Flagship has got to be my favorite Lego set. Quote
Rich B Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I think that a Pirate Reboot is a must need! Imperial Flagship has got to be my favorite Lego set. The Imperial Flagship is one of my all time favorites as well. What an iconic set! It is a must have for all pirate and ship fans. Quote
kerrmando Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 It's the only set that I literally could not keep sealed in box. I bought five of them, over time all five got opened and built haha Quote

Haha, I've built one and sold all but one sealed one. I can never let my last sealed set go. I have the same problem with my last Emerald Night. I can't seem to let it go either. Quote
DominickSoldano Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 to me, both of those sets, Imperial Flagship and Emerald Night are the most realistic sets (other than architecture) that Lego has done. I think that is why they are so appealing to AFOLs and that's what has made them so collectible. Quote
