Welcome.  The key to making money around here is buying the right sets...at the right price.   You should never pay full retail price.

I'm going to be the minority, but this break in Super Duper deals is a nice vacation from hunting 24/7 over the past 45 days.  I slept great last night and part of that is because I wasn't worried about needing to be up into the wee hours of the night or having to check my phone for every piss break during the sleeping hours.

Honestly, if you are buying sets at RRP you'll never make money.  Most serious investors/resellers look for an average of 50% off RRP for a buy-in or more.  My average buy-in for the Mini was $34.15 for example.  Using sales, rebates, points, bonuses, etc. for various retailers is essential.

Thank you for the reply. I was noticing a few comments prior that the example given was someone buying the mini cooper at $99 and selling for $150. The math didn't work out for me, so I was hoping I'd find out there was a better place to sell out there. Maybe they didn't pay the $99 and I missed that part. Again, thanks! Love the site, this a great resource!

Ok, this is what I was thinking. Thank you.

I have sold on eBay for years and am just getting my feet wet with LEGO after having acquired a lot of new sets from someone off Craigslist a few months back. The whole process was so much fun that now I'm completely hooked, my girlfriend is hooked, and my spare bedroom upstairs is in the process of being taken over and my office is covered in sets we've been building just for fun :). So now I'm trying to do a little homework on buying the newer sets to possibly resell one day and to keep this fun going!

That's a good point, but imagine shipping is paid by the buyer, and you get the set for 20% off. Granted the ebay and paypal fees eat into it, but unless you can find your niche on craigslist or something along those lines, ebay, amazon, etc are about it for some if not most of us. But, buying 30, 40, 50% off more times than not, you are going to see a profit.

Also, do ALL sets eventually go on sale, or are there some that LEGO simply will never put on sale? This may be the wrong feed to ask these questions, my apologies if this is the case.

Agree. For example quick flipping is an option. I bought all the saturn v's I could the day they came out buying them at rrp and selling them for $230-240 a piece on ebay.
