Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Movie Discussion

Loved the first trailer, but this one just felt a bit flat.

After reading about things I just heard about how Disney had ordered reshoots - I hope that the 2nd trailer isn't a reflection of those changes.

the more I watch, the less I start to like how the brits have taken over the entire thing.  Back in the old times, during a much simpler time, the brits were the imperials and annoying droids, and the americans were the rebels.  Sure, there was Obi-wan.  But, NOW it's like an all british cast.

Everything that has transpired has done so according to our designs.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a foreign film, or one made out of hollywood.  That's it.  I'm voting for Trump.  He's been right all along.

Also K2SO's voice is just annoying and doesnt fit.  I can't help but think that C3PO went through puberty, but his testicles hadn't fully dropped yet, so he still has a choir boy voice.  This is an ASSASSIN Droid.  Shouldn't he be like "I'll BE BACK." or "We have a 97% chance of perishing today" in some dark deep husky voice?  Dang, he just sounds like he's going to bust out "Tidddly doo Pip, the loo is on the right" in this movie.

Overall, refuse to watch the trailer anymore, and i've lowered my expectations down a lot. Dang brits, they ruin everything.

The other thing that doesn't work for me the more I watch is the Chirrut scene.  It becomes more of a fanboy mashup of Star Wars meets Kunk Fu meets the Matrix.  Its just doesn't work for me.  It doesn't.  There's just something odd about seeing so many stormtroopers becoming that incapacitated by a guy using a stick.

This makes me want to get a stormtrooper costume made out of really hard plastic, and have my son whack me with it to see the effect it would have.  If he doesn't knock me out, then somehow this scene just doesn't seem to work.  I mean, sure we know the stormtroopers are traditionally bad shoots, but this scene just comes off as unrealistic.

Chirrut is teetering on jumping the shark on that scene.  In fact, that would be a funny as heck meme if he's seen jumping while knocking out stomrtroopers.  Just need a couple sharks on the ground as he's jumping around.

If you're referring to the actor that's playing K2SO, it's Alan Tudyk, who is American.

His voice doesn't work.  It's too soft, and feels like he's trying too much to be like a tougher version of C3PO, and it just comes off flat and too weird.

I just rewatched the Force Awakens trailer and I remember after watching that I was super hyped to see the movie.  It's by far one of the best trailers and that trailer blew apart the internet.  I liked the flow of it too, and it felt better crafted. Watching this trailer over and over seems to have done the opposite.  Mostly is the dialogue that throws me off.  There's a lot of course moments that don't make me like sand.

This trailer is already not trending as high, and don't get me wrong, it looks decent.  This could be a b- movie, but I don't know if it's going to be a great movie. My expectations are lowered just a bit, and i'm a bit of a positive star wars geek..

I was hyped after the first trailer. The second trailer not so much. That gritty tone has completely gone and now it looks plain awful. Initially it felt like Saving Private Ryan meets Star Wars and now it feels like a mess of directions. I think I am going to have to let Rotten Tomatoes take the wheel on this one and wait for a download if it scores where I think it will.

I know it was more natural to see a group of 4 feet tall teddy bears with limited upper body movements took down a bunch of these stormtroopers with tribal weaponry.  However at least the Chirrut character and the fighting scenes were original to this movie, not some homage to the other movies in the franchise

It really is amazing on how the people view things differently and thats good, it's what makes the world an interesting place at times.  This trailer changed my view of the movie in a much better way.  I like what I see and hope that it continues in this direction.

I agree (loved the 1st one, this one felt flat) - I heard that Disney had viewed the finished film, and then had them reshoot up to half the movie.

My impression is that Disney must have pulled out the check list that worked so well with TFA ($$$) - and "suggested" that changes needed to be made.

Disappointing, but not surprising - since $2 Billion dollars is worth a whole lot of souls.

But, to be honest, I bet the losses to the Ewoks were about half their tribe after that battle.  Plus, in the real world a alpha male chimp could rip apart a human in hand to hand combat, so I wouldn't call it too far stretched.

Although, some do point to the Ewoks as a point in time where Lucas jumped the shark.  And of course, Jar Jar jumped the shark.  But a blind Chirrut that only has a stick as a weapon is taking jumping the shark to a whole new level.  It's like olympic sized 10 star shark jumping.  At least the Ewoks had to use giant booby traps where large logs had to crush them.  Chirrut just has a twig!

The amount of their loss surely was not apparent during the yub yub song.  But the point was those body armors were vulnerable to blunt weapons even when used by small creatures with limited upper body movements. (Although by no means I was trying to prevent your son from releasing his pent up agression on you). :P

Also, how do you know the twig is not made of some super hard but super light alloy infused with the Force energy?  Just because an individual is not Force sensitive like jedi or sith, does not automatically mean he cannot use the Force in other ways ( case in point Zeb's race in the Rebels TV show)

Well there's a simple explanation for that.  The musicians weren't in the battle.  They make sweet ewok love, not war!

Maybe the twig is made out of lava shark bones from the planet of mustafar!  Now that I could buy. Would it be wrong to refer to it as the shark baton?  If I recall, the term "shark" was in the original code name for the toys like"Shark leader captain". I'm not sure, but I think his original code name was "Shark Jumper with Shark Jumping Baton"

You have no idea what the story is here, so let's see what actually happens.  If it is that bad, then we can all rip it apart Jar Jar style.

I always wondered in Episode IV, right in the opening scene.  How did any rebel ever die and how did any stormtrooper ever made it through that small opening.  All the rebellion had to do was point their guns at that door and keep firing it wasn't that big of an area.  Maybe they were blinded by the flashes, I don't know, but to me that seemed silly but didn't ruin the movie.
