Still well available here in Europe. Especially with this much higher price as sold in The Netherlands! :( Oddly, the LEGO Shop at Home Germany sells it for €199.99 but in The Netherlands we're getting screwed by LEGO.

You know, I've been thinking about this set a lot and the way Lego keeps holding onto it and producing the set.  Seeing as this is a re-make from 7191 that is now pushing 16 years old, and the prices for the most part have held steady, and this set has been around for I believe starting 3 years, I think this can bode well for possible re-makes of older more outdated UCS sets.

I bring this up, because over the last couple of years that I've been here, a lot of you have been talking about how this set is going to be a stinker and everything, and yet Lego continues to produce it.  So in the scheme of things, I hope Lego continues to do this honestly.  Let's face it folks, those that honestly believe these really old UCS sets are going to have the bottom drop right beneath them are being a little too pessimistic about some of the more hardcore collectors.

I say this because, look at how far building techniques have advanced since these sets first came out in the early 2000s.  Even if they re-make any of those older UCS sets, it's going to be significantly different enough, that completionists will still want to pay good dollar for the older ones.  But Lego gets the added bonus of more money in their pockets, and more potential buyers heading into the secondary market to find other sets all you investors are holding onto.

So IMHO, I think with the apparent success of this set, I look forward to seeing what else Lego decides to do in the scheme of UCS re-makes.

One thing to keep in mind in that regard is that TLG has had no new movie-based content to work with over the past 10 years, but is getting ready to have a constant stream of such content to work with each year for the forseeable future. While the new movies will primarily feed the smaller sets, there is sure to be some iconic vehicles/locations that will feed the UCS end of the line that will inevitably limit the number of UCS remakes.

Since they have started filming Rogue Squadron and the X-Wing is rather integral to the story and the fact it's going to be released next year I think it's a pretty safe bet to assume that we're going to have X-wings for the foreseeable future from Lego.

Not if the Empire wins.

I think it's a pretty safe bet we won't see any OT X-Wings for quite a while (I doubt they will use a 100% OT style X-Wing in any of these new movies, they won't be able to stop themselves from changing it) and maybe never a Red 5 again.

It's called Rogue One, and is not necessarily about X-wings, but the special ops group that stole the plans. I would love it if there are x-wings but I don't believe this has been stated anywhere official yet.

Rogue Squadron comes about after A New Hope (formed by Wedge Antilles and Luke... er, the remnants of Red Squadron). From the press so far, Rogue One seems to be more ground war/guerrilla war.

Agreed. Although the scrolling text from New Hope does state that the Alliance has just won a victory striking from a hidden base, which we are reasonably to assume is the Yavin base we see in the film with its detachment of x-wings, y-wings, etc. In the throne room scene there are an awful lot more people on hand then you would expect for just supporting a few flight squadrons. Vader also has a line that "there will be no one to stop us this time". That does seem to bode well for the rumours that he'll put in an appearance.

Stole the plans for the original Death Star? If so then Kyle Katarn should appear somewhere in all this I guess. I'm not super heavy on all the Star Wars lore in regard to what is still considered canon or not.

if only he was official canon.

This will be the thermometer test for our market to see how big the horde is now that US one quietly went to to sold out status last night (no we are making more sign and gone from exclusives page).

The last restock was quite big so it could be the final one or just a preparation  for double VIP.

Is it done and will it stick around till double VIP time?
