Yes mate, I was!. Everything else Ive bought from there has been pretty terrible, including a SD when I picked these up.

While checking your post yesterday, i decided to try to reserve one on the argos site and unbelievably it allowed me for collection in the Maidenhead branch. So went there today to collect and they said it was £169.99. So I told them it was £97.99 on my reservation and they changed the price on their system. As expected the box was a bit dented as it would have been one rejected by a picky customer :) I cannot believe my luck!

apologies for short notice, but I may be about to release an Argos UK 'click n'collect' reservation (store is in SE England) for multiple 10240 X-wing's as a friend of mine is probably not able to pick them up for me before the pickup window expires today.

would be happy to pay it forward to a fellow BP'er so pls PM me asap if you are interested in picking them up for yourselves :)

Yeah the 4 I was able to pickup, 2 of them are basically mint condition, one is very badly damaged with a hole in the front and the other one has a corner crushed. So not to bad really for Argos. I kept them all of course, because at £97.99 it's a total bargain even with damaged boxes. Oddly enough the several ones I picked up last year for £97.99 are all in excellent condition. Off topic a load of my R2-D2'S I picked up in the 3 for 2 when they were already discounted down to £120 each I think at the time, are basically all damaged boxes, except maybe 2 or 3. Good old Argos gamble.

true.  i still don't know if this set is "going, going, gone" this year with the new film arriving before the end of the year.

I think there is more than enough demand for 4 UCS sets at retail (sandcrawler, slave 1, tie and x-wing).   until non-lego retail outlets have steady availability,  i assume we need to lean as it's going.

i did finally buy a used 10240 to build.  first thing i did was call Lego about a new sticker sheet as the previous owner destroyed the cockpit ones.

Sold out would be a lot nicer.

Never mind, was misinformed. Not sure if multiple copies of the stickers is normal in this set now though.

I built one, straight out of a new box, and mine came with 2 copies of the sticker sheet.  I completely screwed up on the first attempt, tried to peel it off and reset it, and it made it worse to the point where the sticker was marred..  So, I had to use the second one, but pulled out a butter knife, and it was like surgery trying to put it on.   Good luck!  It's the cockpit sticker challenge.  Few succeed on their first attempt, i'm guessing.

Just so's everyone knows... this is actually the new display at Legoland California, not my own creation! In fact, I'm not positive that they even used a 10240 for this. Anyone want to weigh in on this? If they did use 10240, then I'm pretty sure that they replaced some of the red bricks with more brightly colored red bricks- probably to withstand the sun since it was an outdoor display.
